RESOLUTION R09-201
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PLAINVIEW, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF JUSTICE
ASSISTANCE GRANT APPLICATIONS WITH THE CRIMINAL
JUSTICE DIVISION OF THE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE OF THE
STATE OF TEXAS FOR AN ASSISTANCE TO LAW
ENFORCEMENT; DESIGNATING AN AUTHORIZED OFFICIAL
AND AUTHORIZING SUCH OFFICIAL TO EXECUTE ALL
DOCUMENTS NECESSARY; AND PLEDGING COMPLIANCE TO
THE AWARDED GRANT PROGRAM
WHEREAS, grant funds are available through the Criminal Justice
Division of the Governor's Office of the State of Texas, to provide assistance to
local law enforcement agencies to combat the increase of criminal activity; and
WHEREAS, the Hale County Sherrill Department and the City of
Plainview Police Department are eligible to apply for said joint grant funds; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Plainview, Texas finds it in the
best interest for the citizens of Plainview that the Criminal Justice Assistance
(JAG) Funds be used to Purchase Police Equipment during the 2009 year; and
WHEREAS, the City Council ensures that all conditions of the Grant will
be complied with according to the Grant requirements; and
WHEREAS, the City Council designates Mayor John C. Anderson as the
City's authorized official. The authorized official is given the power to apply for,
accept, reject, alter or terminate the grant on behalf of the applicant agency.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF PLAINVIEW THAT:
Submission of the Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) application for a grant
in the amount of $10,447.00 for the purchase of police equipment to the Criminal
Justice Division of the Office of the Governor of the State of Texas is hereby
approved.
The Mayor is hereby authorized and directed to execute, respectively, on
behalf of the City of Plainview, all necessary documents, including the City-
County Interlocal Agreement Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant
(JAG), to complete this grant application process.

The public purpose is to submit an application for Justice Assistance
Grants (JAG) to the Criminal Justice Division of the Office of the Governor of the
State of Texas for the purchase of police equipment.
