HomeMy WebLinkAbout94-3011203 ELECTRICAL CODE ORDINANCE - AMENDMENT ORDINANCE NO. 94-3011 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PLAINVIEW, TEXAS, AMENDING THE ELECTRICAL CODE, CHAPTER 4, SECTION 4.1 TO INCLUDE RECIPROCATION AS FOLLOWS: A MASTER ELECTRICIAN, MASTER SIGN ELECTRICIAN, JOURNEYMAN ELECTRICIAN, OR JOURNEYMAN SIGN ELECTRICIAN LICENSED TO PERFORM ELECTRICAL WORK IN OTHER CITIES; CUMULATIVENESS CLAUSE; CONFLICTS CLAUSE; SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; AND EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 84-2550, known as the City of Plainview £1ectrical Code sets forth standards governing electrical work; requiring a person to be licensed before performing such work and providing exceptions; and WHEREAS, there currently exist a need to include reciprocation with other cities; and WHEREAS, it was determined by the City Council that it would be in the best public interest to amend the City of Plainview Electrical Code in the manner hereinafter set forth in the body of this Ordinance; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, by the City Council of the City of Plainview, Texas that: SECTION I A master electrician, master sign electrician, journeyman electrician, or journeyman sign electrician licensed to perform electrical work in other cities preceding application to the City of Plainview may apply for and receive a license similar or equivalent to his current license without taking the required examination under the following conditions: He shall submit evidence satisfactory to the electrical inspector that his current license was issued by a city operating under the "National Electrical Code," currently adopted edition, or later edition of said code. He shall submit evidence satisfactory to the electrical inspector that his current license was issued under conditions not less restrictive 204 than required by this code for issuance-of such a license, with proof of a Block & Associates score of 70% or above. He shall submit evidence satisfactory to the electrical inspector that an electrician licensed by the board would be permitted to apply for and receive a similar or equivalent license under reciprocal conditions from the city'issuing applicant's current licenses. He shall submit a signed, notorized letter, addressed to the electrical inspector, from the electrical inspector of the city in which he is licensed, indicating that the electrician is licensed, the date of said licensing, and that he-is in good standing With that licensing city. He shall furnish all necessary certificates of insurance, pay all license fees and comply with all other requirements of this code. A license issued under this section may be revoked or suspended for any of the reasons set forth in Chapter 7 of the Electrical Code of the City of Plainview. SECTION II Provisions of this ordinance are cumulative and nothing herein shall prevent, alter, or diminish the applicability or enforcement of other ordinances restricting, regulating or governing the subject matter herein. SECTION III All ordinances or portions of any ordinance of the City of Plainview, Texas in conflict herewith, are hereby amended to conform with the provisions hereof. SECTION IV Should any section, subsection, or any portion hereof be deemed invalid for any reason, such holding shall not render or invalidate any other section, sub- section, sentence, provision, clause, phrase, or word severable therefrom and the same shall be deemed severable for this purpose. SECTION V 205 This ordinance shall be of full force and effect upon its passage and publication as required by law.
