HomeMy WebLinkAbout10 0304 min 383 The City Council met on March 4, 2010, at the Plainview Convention Center, 2902 West 4 Street, Plainview, Texas. The agenda for this meeting was posted in City Hall at 11:10 a.m. on March 1, 2010. Mayor John C. Anderson presided. Councilmembers present were: Kelvin Tipton- District 1, Cathy Waggoner- District 2, Belinda Pena District 3, Wendell Dunlap- District 6 and Roland Nash District 7. Councilmembers John N. Bertsch- District 4 and Ron Trusler- District 5 were absent. Staff members present were: Greg Ingham -City Manager, Leslie Pearce -City Attorney, Rusty Powers -Fire Chief, Dale Simpson- Director of Civil Service, Mike Gilliland- Director of Public Works, Tammy Adams Accounting Coordinator, Philip Mize Fire Marshal, Vanessa Rincon- Accountant II, Dennis Harkins Police Captain, Mike Allen- Lieutenant Training Coordinator and Belinda Hinojosa -City Secretary. Media Present: Hayley Cox, Plainview Daily Herald and Tommy Young, Plainview News Radio Councilmember Dunlap led in the Invocation. Councilmembers John N. Bertsch and Ron Trusler were granted excused absences. Mike Allen, Lieutenant Training Coordinator presented for consideration Resolution R10 -218, a Resolution of the City Council of the City of Plainview, Texas, Authorizing the filing of a Grant Application for the Police Department Equipment Enhancement Project 2010 with the Criminal Justice Division of the Governor's Office of the State of Texas; Designating an Authorized Official and Authorizing Such Official to Execute all Documents Necessary; and Pledging Compliance to the Awarded Grant Program. The grant application is for $55,629.79. If approved for this grant, there would be no cost to the City. The grant application could be for any amount from $10.00 to $100,000. He stated the City could receive a lower amount or could be given more. The following is a list of equipment to be purchased with the grant money: Sokkia total station $13,550; Hand scope Xeon HSX 5000 Forensic Ultra Portable Alternate Light $5,130; DVR 2 Recording System $6,320; Graffiti Cam Video System $5,045; SWAT Entry Team Equipment $4,148.82; Optic /Scope Equipment $2,794; Buckstop Front end /Mile Marker Winch $4,023; three 55 inch LCD Monitors $5,330.97; two Portable generator Lighting Systems $5,988; and Four -way Articulating Flexible Fiber Scope $3,300. Mayor Anderson asked for public comment. There was no public comment. Councilmember Pena moved to approve Resolution R10 -218. The motion was duly seconded by Councilmember Waggoner and carried by unanimous vote. The Council and staff reviewed the agenda for the City Council meeting of March 9, 2010.
