HomeMy WebLinkAboutR10-225RESOLUTION R10 -225 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLAINVIEW, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF A GRANT APPLICATION FOR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT EQUIPMENT ENHANCEMENT PROJECT 2010 WITH THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE DIVISION OF THE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS; DESIGNATING AN AUTHORIZED OFFICIAL AND AUTHORIZING SUCH OFFICIAL TO EXECUTE ALL DOCUMENTS NECESSARY; AND PLEDGING COMPLIANCE TO THE AWARDED GRANT PROGRAM. WHEREAS, grant funds are available through the Criminal Justice Division (CJD) of the Governor's Office of the State of Texas, to provide assistance to local law enforcement agencies to combat the increase of criminal activity; and WHEREAS, the City of Plainview Police Department is eligible to apply for said grant funds; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Plainview, Texas finds it in the best interest for the citizens of Plainview that the CJD Funds be used for purchases regarding the Police Department Equipment Enhancement Project 2010 operated for the year 2010/2011; and WHEREAS, the City Council agrees that in the event of loss or misuse of the CJD Funds, the City Council assures that the Funds will be returned to the CJD in full; and WHEREAS, the City Council designates Mayor John C. Anderson as the grantee's authorized official. The authorized official is given the power to apply for, accept, reject, alter or terminate the grant on behalf of the applicant agency. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED By the City Council of the City of Plainview that: Submission of the CDJ Grant Application for an approximate amount of Ten Thousand One Hundred and Eighty- Six/100 Dollars ($10,186.00) for the Police Department Equipment Enhancement Project 2010 to the Office of the Governor, Criminal Justice Division, is hereby approved. The City Council hereby designates Mayor John C. Anderson as the grantee's authorized official. Mayor Anderson is authorized to execute on behalf Resolution R10 -225 CJD 2010 Page 1 of 2 363 364 of the City of Plainview all necessary documents, including for the Police Department Equipment Enhancement Project 2010, to apply for, accept, reject, alter or terminate the grant on behalf of the applicant agency. This Resolution's public purpose is to submit grant applications to the CJD of the Office of the Governor of the State of Texas for the purchase of police equipment.
