HomeMy WebLinkAbout96-3073STREET RENAMING ORDINANCE NO. 96-3073 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PLAINVlEW PROVIDING FOR CHANGING THE NAME OF A PORTION OF NORTH BROADWAY STREET FROM CAMPBELL STREET TO BULLOCK STREET TO WALTER JACKSON STREET; CUMULATIVENESS CLAUSE; SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; CONFLICTS CLAUSE; AND EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Plainview, Texas, recognizes that Reverend Walter Jackson was dedicated to the advancement of the community; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Plainview, Texas, recognizes a need to commemorate the work of Walter Jackson by naming a city street Walter Jackson Street; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Plainview, Texas, has determined that it would be in the best interest of the public that a portion of North Broadway Street be renamed Walter Jackson Street, said portion to be renamed as follows, to wit: All of North Broadway Street between Campbell Street and Bullock Street, which lies in the Wye Addition No. 4, Plainview, Hale County, Texas. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLAINVlEW, TEXAS: Section I. That North Broadway Street between Campbell Street and Bullock Street, which lies in the Wye Addition No. 4, Plainview, Hale County, Texas, is hereby changed from North Broadway to Walter Jackson Street. Section I1. Provisions of this ordinance are cumulative and nothing herein shall prevent, alter or diminish the applicability or enforcement of other ordinances restricting, regulating or governing the subject matter herein, Section II1. If any section, subsection, sentence, clause, phrase, or portion of this ordinance is for any reason held invalid or unconstitutional by any court of competent jurisdiction, such portion shall be deemed a separate, distinct and independent provision and such holding shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions hereof. Section IV. All ordinances or portions of any ordinance of the City of Plainview, Texas, in conflict herewith, are hereby amended to conform with the provisions hereof. Section V, This ordinance shall be of full force upon and effect upon June 9, 1996 PASSED AND APPROVED THIS 28th DAY OF MAY, 1996. ATTEST: C.
