HomeMy WebLinkAbout96-3074STREET RENAMING ORDINANCE NO. 96-3074 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PLAINVlEW PROVIDING FOR CHANGING THE NAME OF A PORTION OF NORTH BEECH STREET FROM 13TH STREET TO BULLOCK STREET TO SAM HEARN STREET; CUMULATIVENESS CLAUSE; SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; CONFLICTS CLAUSE; AND EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Plainview, Texas, recognizes that Reverend Sam Hearn was dedicated to the advancement of the community; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Plainview, Texas, recognizes a need to commemorate the work of Sam Hearn by naming a city street Sam Hearn Street; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Plainview, Texas, has determined that it would be in the best interest of the public that a portion of North Beech Street be renamed Sam Hearn Street, said portion to be renamed as follows, to wit: All of North Beech Street between 13th Street and Bullock Street, which lies in the Carver Heights Addition, New Home Addition Nos. 1 and 2, Wye Addition No. 4, and Depot Addition, Plainview, Hale County, Texas. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLAINVlEW, TEXAS: Section I. That North Beech Street between 13th Street and Bullock Street, which lies in the Carver Heights Addition, New Home Addition Nos. 1 and 2, Wye Addition No. 4, and Depot Addition from North Beech to Sam Hearn Street. Section I1. Provisions of this ordinance are cumulative and nothing herein shall prevent, alter or diminish the applicability or enforcement of other ordinances restricting, regulating or governing the subject matter herein. Section II1. If any section, subsection, sentence, clause, phrase, or portion of this ordinance is for any reason held invalid or unconstitutional by any court of competent jurisdiction, such portion shall be deemed a separate, distinct and independent provision and such holding shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions hereof. Section IV. All ordinances or portions of any ordinance of the City of Plainview, Texas, in conflict herewith, are hereby amended to conform with the provisions hereof. Section V. This ordinance shall be of full force upon and effect upon August 18, 1996. PASSED AND APPROVED THIS 28th DAY OF MAY, 1996. ATTEST: Lloyd C.
