The Plaintiew Hale Comity Board of Health met 8 April,
1965 at the Alcove, Chairman Kirk presiding.
Mr. Kirk gave a brief report on the Migrant -gin
managers meeting held in March and thanked board members
for their attendance. He expressed the hope that this
could be the foundation for a better understanding of the
gin manager and the migrant health problem.
Mr. Kirk stated that it had been called to his attent-
ion that the Health Department was paying a penality each
month for late payment of utility bills, such bills not
paid until regular monthy approval by the Board. Oliver
Hamel made the motion that the city clerk be instructed
to pay any regular contracted bills when they were due,
subject to later approval by the Board. Edgar Brown
second..motion carried.
The 10th of May was the date selected by the Board for
a joint meeting of the Commissioners Court, elected offic-
ials of all towns in the county and the Board of Health.
This to be a dinner meeting hosted by the Mayor and City
Council of Plainview. A letter of invitation noting time
guest.
and place would be mailed by Marshall Pharr to all envited
Mayor Hood aid Judge Abernethy discussed the need for
including plans for coordinating vitial statistics records
in next years Health Dept. budget. Chairman Kirk appointed
Dr. Ray Freeman, Oliver Harmel and Mary Wadzeck to serve on
the budget committee.
Dr. Freeman reported that the City Council of Hale
Center approved establishing a food sanitation ordinance.
Dr. Marshall noted that this was the third town in the
county to adopt such ordinance.
Judge Abernethy envited all board members to attend
April 22,23,24th.
the Mental Health Conference, sponsored by Wayland College,
Dr. Marshall presented currant bills. Edgar Brown moved
bills be approved..second Dr. Freeman..motion carried.
Meeting adjourned. Members attending: Mike Kirk, Dr,
Freeman, Oliver Hamel, Edgar Brown, Mayor Hood, Judge
Abernethy, Dr. Marshall, Marshall Pharr,
