Re: Items of Interest for meeting, December 101 1964
Since I shall be attending the annual meeting of the Texas Mdsquito
Control Association in Austin, Dec. 10-11, I would like to suggest a few
items for consideration.
1. At the TMCA meeting I expect to join in a discussion of our problem
in Hale County and a recommended budget estimate. I also hope to arrange
for Dr. Don Micks to visit us for a day or two.
2. Attention is called to the preparation of the mobile unit for the
Migrant Health Program. Photographs of the interior and exterior are
enclosed. Members of the Board are invited to inspect this unit which
is now ready for use.
3. I would like to request the Board to consider sponsoring a meeting in
early spring to discuss labor camp sanitation and ways of improving san-
itation to reach minimum standards. I believe gin management should be
invited and I would hope representatives of all the gin associations could
be invited. A representative of Texas Employment Commission could
-contribute valuable data at this meeting and the Migrant Ministry group
colOod give supportv
4. A conference was held on November 19 here to plan for encephalitis
studies in Hale County in 1965. The U.S. Public Health Service had 7
representatives and the State Health Department sent 2 men. A copy of the
tenative outline for investigations is enclosed. Judge Abernethy and
Mayor hood may have comments on this subject.
5. Attached bills for general program and migrant health program,
