The Plainview Hale County Board of Health met January
20,1966 at the Alcove Restaurant, Chairman Kirk pres-
iding.
Guest Mr. Lewis Hine and Dr. Robert Cherry with
the Migrant Health Project, were introduced by the
chairman.
Mr. Kirk read a letter from the Mayor and City
Council commending the Board of Health for capable
service rendered the community as members of the
Board.
Current bills were presented. Joe Mayo made the
motion that bills be approved for payment..second
Edgar Brown..motion carried.
Dr. Heye gave a brief feport as chairman of the
committee to secure a director. He stated thet no
interest had been indicated other than Dr. Jordan
from Ft. Worth.
Mr. Kirk envited guest to explain the Migrant
Health program to the Board. Mr. Hine, represent-
ative Regional Migrant Health, with the United States
Public Health Service -Dallas, Texas, complimented the
interest shown by the Board in the Migrant program.
He offered assistance in helping to maintain the
grant as felt this was a needed service in the com-
munity. He requested a letter from the Board be
sent to his office confirming the appointment of
Dr. Weidenback as acting director of the Health
Department. Dr. Cherry, representing the State
Migrant program, also assured the Board of coop-
eration and assistance from the State level.
Meeting adjourned. Members attending: Dr. Weiden-
back, Mayor Hood, Oliver Harmel, Joe Mayo, Marshall Pharr,
Ray D. Blair, Dr. Heye, Edgar Brown, Judge Abernethy, Sue
Barfoot and guest.
