The Plainview Hale County Board of Hgalth met in a
regular luncheon meeting August 8, 1968 at the Alcove
Restaurant, Joe Mayo presiding.
Members attending; Ray Blair, Sam Langford, Dr.
Wagner, Mayor Hood, Edgar Brown, Judge Abernethy,
Marshall Pharr, Clifton Martin and Mary Lou Truesdale.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and
approved.
Chairman Mayo reviewed the Mosquito Control Pro-
gram and asked the Board'i opinion as to the advisi-
bility of working to establish a district. After
discussion it was agreed that Larry Pecham and Bill
Hollars should be contacted to advise in the fin-
ancial projection of funds needed to establish a
program. Judge Abernethy agreed to make the neces-
sary contacts. Dr. Wagner stated that he felt this
would be an oppertune time to explore the possbility
of establishing a mosquito control program. The
current program proving to be so successful. This
year there were eighteen suspect encephlitis cases
with only one case confirmed.
Mrs. Truesdalg reported that the family planning
clinic had been resumed. Dr. Cooper from Hale Center
held, the first clinic for Dr. Benzon. She also rep-
orted an increase in the number of venereal disease
cases.
Clifton Martin requested, the Boards permission
to allow Dr. Wagner to countersign migrant checks.
Ray Blair moved that Dr. Gerald Wagner be authorized
to Countersign migrant checks..second Sam Langford..
motion carried. Mr. Martin reported that more
migrants were being served this year thanJuly of last
year..the migrant camps being filled.
Mayor Hood read a letter from Dr. Ankor, former
resident of Plainview, offering the purchase of his
clinic at half the price as listed with a real estate
agent. Stated price of property $25,000.00. Dr. Ankor
offering to sell the property ot the City and County
for $12,500.00 to be used as a Health Department.
Judge Abernethy stated that he felt action should be
taken to work toward acceptance of the offer. Mayor
Hood agreed to reply, by letter, to Dr. Ankor suff-
icient to keep the proposal open until a complete
investigation of the matter could be made.
Current bills were presented. Ray Blair moved bills
be approved for payment..second Edgar Brown..motion
Carried.
