HomeMy WebLinkAbout01-09-1969 Board of Health MinutesJanuary 1969 The Plainview Hale County Board of Health met in a regular meeting January 9,1969 at the Alcove Restau- rant, Oliver Harmel presiding. Minutes of the November meeting were read and approved. The secretary read a letter written to Commissioners Court requesting employment of a full time nurse paid from local funds. This action taken to meet staff of Migrant Health Grant as well as need for the services of the nurse for the Ilealth Department. Letter also requested the Court to reconsider purchase of Ackor property. Dr. Wagner stated that the Board would be meeting with the Commissioners Court the following Monday. He stated that he would make three strong request of the Court: That the Court approve: 1.Employment of a nurse on local funds. 2. Purchase of Ackor Building. 3.Salary for. Acting director be raised to $12,000.00 per year,as previously requested. Dr. Wagner advised the Board that with additional dutied within the Department, he °old no longer serve as Acting Director without salary justification. Dr. Wagner also reported that Mrs. Larry Pecham had been dismissed from the staff. Bookeeping of the Health Unit, formally done by the County, had been returned to the unit, Dr. Wagner expressed that in his opinion this could result in more eff- icient management. Mrs. Truesdale reported that one fourth grade student had been admitted to McKnight Hospital as a result of the T B Testing Program. Attitude of the staff was good despite heavy work load. Wayland College had requested that students be allowed to observe the Health Department activities. Presently three students were participating. Current bills were presented. Dr. Heye moved that bills be approved for payment..second Edgar Brown.. motion carried. Clifton Martin gave a briet report on the migrant program.
