HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-18-1970 Board of Health MinutesThe Plainview Hale County Health Board met at The Far East Restaurant at 12:30 P.M. June 18, 1970, with Oliver Harmel presiding. Members present were: Dr. Gerald Wagner, Mayor Louis Thomas, Marshall Pharr, Oliver Harmel, Edgar Brown, Joe Mayo, Sam Langford, Dr. Randall Heye, Mary Lou Truesdale, Clifton Martin, Ray D. Blair and Clara Neis. The minutes of the meeting of May 14th were read and approved. Clifton Martin reported that the 850,000 appropriation to reno- vate or repair office space was now down the drain, but that a new application would be filed. Mary Lou Truesdale reported that on an over-all count that there is an increase of 12% more people who have been reached this year than in any previous fiscal year, that the Rubella program had been completed, that statistics show their services reached more Migrant workers this year, and already appointment are being set up for the Family Planning Clinic for October. Mayor Louis Thomas reported that the City of Plainview had approved the 1970-71 budget as submitted. Dr. Wagner gave the results of the meeting with the commissioners court stating the budget was approved with the exclusion of the additional nurse requested. The Board was quite concerned over this action and felt that statistics should be gathered to be presented to the commissioner for them to reconsider their action. Mrs. Truesdale with the assistance of Marshall Pharr was asked to break down the report, showing what work was done and, in which precinct. A discussion on whether the local people working with the program could be covered under a Retirement Program under either the City or County programs prevailed and Dr. Wagner was asked to check further on the coverage. Edgar Brown made a motion to pay the May bills. Joe Mayo seconded motion. Motion carried. There being no further business, the meeting adjourned. Clara Neis Se retary Approved Oliver Harmel, Chairman
