Restaurant at 12:30 p.m. on September 10, 1970, with Sam Langford
presiding. The members present were: Judge C.L. Abernathy,
Mayor Louis Thomas, City Manager Marshall Pharr, Dr. Randall Heye,
Dr. Gerald Wagner, Ray D. Blair, Mary Lou Truesdale, Sam Langford
and Clifton Martin.
The motion was made by Ray D. Blair and seconded by Dr. Heye
that monthly bills be paid. Motion carried by proxy, due to the
absence of enough voting board members.
Dr. Wagner reported changes in clerk positions and the
two new clerk replacements were doing very well.
Dr. Wagner stated a good many calls were being received
regarding the fly problem in the Southwest part of the city and
the horse problem in that area needed correcting.
Dr. Wagner stated Dr. Dickson in a letter on file at the
Health Department, states that Gamma Globulin would not be
available from the State.
Discussion by the board as to cost was as follows. Ray Blair
stated that cost depends on the volumn of buying. Dr. Heye
suggested limiting Gamma Globulin to pregnant women. Judge
Abernathy asked how much Gamma Globulin costs per year was and
suggested funds for such be used out of the Health Department
budget. The motion was made by Dr. Heye and seconded by Ray Blair
that Gamma Globulin, when needed for household contacts to
infectious hepatitis and pregnant women exposed to Rubella, be
purchased from the Health Department flInds. The motion was
carried.
Dr. Wagner stated that the Doctors in the Medical Society
were encouraging people to get diptheria shots.
Judge Abernathy asked if there was any encephalitis in the
county. Dr. Wagner stated that there were no confirmed cases.
Marshall Pharr explained retirement formula used by the
city and how it pertains to the people working in the Health
-Department. Mrs. Truesdale will discuss this opportunity with
the eligible employees. Further steps will be taken as indicated.
Dr. Heye asked Mr. Pharr if D.D.T. was being used. It was
explained(that it was limited, in many cases. Ray Blair stated
that he understood that the use of D.D.T., would be stopped.
Being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
