AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PLAINVlEW PROVIDING
FOR CHANGING THE NAME OF A PORTION OF NORTH
AUSTIN STREET FROM 11TH STREET TO 24TH STREET
TO WALTF~ GRIFFIN STREET; CUMULATIVENESS
CLAUSE; SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; CONFLICTS CLAUSE;
AND EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Plainview, Texas, recognizes
that Reverand Walter Griffin was dedicated to the advancement of the
community; and
WHERF_a~S, the City Council of the City of Plainview, Texas, recognizes
a need to commemorate the work of Walter Griffin by naming a city street
Walter Griffin Street; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Plalnview, Texas, has
determined that it would be in the best interest of the public that a portion
of North Austin Street be renamed Walter Griffin Street, said portion to be
renamed described as follows, to wit:
All of North Austin Street between the 11th Street and 24th Street,
which lies in the Wye Addition Nos. i and 2, the Central Park Addition,
and the Austin Heights Addition, Plalnview, Hale County, Texas.
NON, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF PLAINVI~, TEXAS :
Section I.
That of North Austin Street between the 11th Street and 24th Street, which
lies in the Wye Addition Nos. I and 2, the Central Park Addition, and the
Austin Heights Addition, Plainview, Hale County, Texas, is hereby changed
from North Austin to Walter Griffin Street.
Section II.
Provisions of this ordinance are cumulative and nothing herein shall prevent,
alter or diminish the applicability or enforcement of other ordinances
restricting, regulating or governing the subject matter herein.
Section III.
If any section, subsection, sentence, clause, phrase, or portion of this
ordinance is for any reason held invalid or unconstitutional by any court of
competent jurisdiction, such portion shall be deemed a separate, distinct and
independent provision and such holding shall not affect the validity of the
remaining portions hereof.
Section IV.
Ail ordinances or portions of any ordinance of the City of Plainview, Texas,
in conflict herewith, are hereby amended to conform with the provisions
hereof.

Section V.
This ordinance shall be of full force and effect upon September 6, 1992.
