AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 84-2563, PROVIDING FOR THE
HOURS OF MAXIMUM SPEED LIMITS ON PORTIONS OF STREETS DESIGNATED
AS SCHOOL ZONES FOR THE OPERATION OF MOTOR VEHICLES ON ANY
STREET WITHIN THE DESIGNATED SCHOOL ZONE.
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 84-2564 of the City of Plainview, Texas
designates portions of certain streets located within the City
limits of the City of Plainview, Texas as school zones, and provides
maximum limits of speed for operation of any type of motor vehicle
within said school zone; and
WHEREAS, after a thorough evaluation of the school zones in the
City of Plainview, Texas, it has been determined that the hours of
operation for some school zones needs to be changed.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of
Plainview, Texas,

motorcycle, motorscooter or any type motor vehicle which is
self-propelled at a speed greater than twenty (20) miles per hour
between the hours of 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.; 11:30 a.m. to 1:30
p.m.; 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday,
Thursday, and-Friday of each week on the following portions of the
following streets;

Section 2: Provided further} it shali be unlawful for any person to
operate any automobile, motorcycle, motorscooter, or any type motor
vehicle which is self propelled at a speed greater than (20) miles
per hour between the hours of 7:30 a.m. to_8:30 a,m.; 3:30 p.m. to
4:30 p~m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of each

On South Broadway Street beginning at the North curbline of the
intersection of South Broadway and West Crestway Street, North a
distance of 192 feet, and/beginning at the South curbline of this
intersection of South Broadway Street and West Crestway Street,

The necessity to change the time providing forthe hours of maximum
speed limit for the operation of motor vehicles was brought about by
the fact that some schools do not have children leaving the school
grounds during the 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. time period.

Section 3: It shall be unlawful for any person to' operate any
automobile, motorcycle, motor scooter, or any type of'motor vehicle
which is self-propelled at a speed greater than 25~miles per hour
when the school zone traffic signal control light is flashing on
Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays of each week on
the following portions of the following streets:
Section 4: On U._S. Highway 70 (also known as 5th Street) beginning
at the West curbline of the intersection of U.S. Highway 70 and
Canyon Street, West a distance of 188' and beginning at the East
curbline of the intersection qf U.S. Highway 70 and Canyon Street,
East, a distance of 155', College Hill SchoOl;
On Quincy Street, between 14th Street and i5th Street; High School;
Section 5: Ail ordinance or part of any ordinance of the City of
Plainview, Texas, in conflict herewith is hereby amended to conform
with the provisions hereof.
Section 6: Any person who shall violate or fail to comply with
of the provisions of this ordinance, shall be deemed guilty of
misdemeanor, and upon conviction, shall be punished by a fine in
sum of not less than $1.00 and no more than $200.00.
