VANDALISM REWARD
ORDINANCE NO. 91-2883
AN ORDINANCE QF THE CITY OF PLAINVIEW, TEXAS, .AMENDING
SECTIONS 17-1, -"VANDALISM REWARD" OF THE-CITY OF
PLAINVIEW CITY CODE.
Whereas, the City. of Plainview offers a vandalism reward as an incentive for
citizens to report vandalism to the appropriate authorities; and
Whereas, the ..City Council has expressed a desire to amend .the procedures
specified in. Section 17-1, of the Plainview City Code in order to make said
procedures more attractive to the. public.
Now Therefore: Be It Ordained, by the City of Plainview, Texas,.. that Section
17-1, "vandalism reward" of the Plainview City Code is hereby repealed in its
entirety and henceforth shall read as follows
A. Subject to the terms and provisions of this section, there shall be
paid a reward of $250 , QQ (Two hundred fifty dollars) to any person
furnishing information, to an agent of the City, which leads to the
arrest and. indictment of any person or persons for the offense of
criminal mischief as defined in the Texas Penal Code, because said
person or persons intentionally or knowingly damaged or destroyed
~ tangible property of the city.

B . Only one reward shall. be paid when the indictment of more than.
one person is for damage to city property on .one- single occasion.
C . No reward .shall be paid to any person whose -duty it is to enforce
the law, including but not Limited to law enforcement officers of the.
city, .county. or state, or any other agent or employee of the city. No
reward shall be paid if the information furnished is already (as of the
time said information is furnished) .within the knowledge of any law
enforcement officer or other agent of the city.
D . The City Manager .shall be the. judge of whether or not such
information did lead to such arrest .and indictment and whether or not
the reward is due under the circumstances presented for the claim for
the reward; and the judgement of the City Manager shall be final in
such instances .
