First item on the agenda, approval of june 1999 minutes. Max Browning made motion to approve
June 99' minutes, Jennifer Wright seconded. Motion carded 4-0.
Second item on the agenda, Case #1342, the request of Doyle & Mary Driver for a variance of
seventeen (! 7) feet eight (8) inches of the required twenty-five (25) foot front setback and five (5)
feet ofthe required five (5) foot side setback as stated in Section 34 of the City of Plainview Zoning
Ordinance to erect a 18 X 20 carport in a Single Family Residential (R-2) Zoning District, and being
Lot 18, Unit 1, Block 8, Thunderbird Addition, Plainview, Hale County, Texas and same being 1105
W. 294 Street. There were three in-favor responses and the stall'does not have a problem with this.
This would make the second carport in the area. Max Browning asked what the carport was going
to be made out of. Mr. Driver responded that Tim Humphrey is going to be the one to build the
carport. He is going to build it out of metal and 6 inch Pearling, 4 x 4 steel square post, buried in
cement. Max Browning made motion to move that the construction material seems to be
substantially, and approve the variance, John C. Bickel seconded. Motion 4-0,
Third item on the agenda, Case #1345, the request of Tommy Rex Beatty for a variance of nineteen
(19) feet of the required twenty-five (25) foot from setback as stated in Section 34 of the City of
Plainview Zoning Ordinance to erect mini storage units in a General Commercial (C-3) Zoning
District, and being an area 330' X 100' N Lot 1, Shady Lane subdivision, Plainview, Hale County,
Texas and same being 2010 E. 5"~ Street. There were no responses from the property owners across
the street. The entire lot that surrounds Mr. Beatty's property is owned by the City and the property
to the North, is privately owned. Mr. Beatty stated that six (6) t~. would help with the security on
the mini storage, in other words the outside of the buildings would serve as the fence. So he would
only have to gate the front part. John Bickel stated that the actual location is away from the highway,
he made motion that the variance be granted, Jennifer Wright seconded. Motion carried 4-0.
