HomeMy WebLinkAbout06.22.1987 BA MinutesBOARD OFADJUSTMENTMEETING MONDAY, JUNE 22, 1987, CITY HALL, 7:30 P.M. The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Terry Teague. Other board members present were Carolyn Warrick, Jack Burton, Rick Woodward and Mitch George. Staff present were: Mike McDonough, Director of Municipal Services, and Jim Sewell, Building Inspector. Visitors present were: J.H. Reece, Chris C. Cartwright, Jan McClure, Jim Ball, Evelyn Ball and Charles Bowen. B.A. Case No. 1022 Request of J.H. Reece for a variance to construct an addition to a residence in the required front yard (front porch) in a R-1 (Single-Family Residential) Zoning District, being the South 57 feet of the North 62.25 feet of Lot 7, Block 1, Akin-Webb Addition and located at 1607 Utica. The case was presented by Mr. McDonough. He stated that Mr. Reece was desiring to construct a covered porch to the front of his residence which would be in the required front yard.- With slides, Mr, McDonough indicated that the construction would not obstruct the view either to north or south. Mr. Teague called for comments from .the visitor present. Hearing none, he called for questions from the board. Again hearing none, he called for a motion. Mr. Burton made a motion, seconded by Mr. George, that the variance be granted. Motion carried unanimously. B.A. Case No. 1024 Request of Chris C. Cartwright for a variance to construct an open carport in 'the required front yard in a R-2 (Single-Family Residential) Zoning District, being the West half of Lots 7 & 8, Block 13, College Hill Addition and located at 1510 West 9th Street. The request was presented by Mr. McDonough. Through use of slides and overhead projection, Mr. McDonough indicated the location of the property and the location of the carport. After a short discussion, Mr. Burton made a motion to grant the request as presented. The motion was seconded by Mr. Woodward and passed unanimously. B.A. Case No. 1025 Request of Weaver and Jan McClure to construct a patio in the required side yard in a R-2 (Single-Family Residential) Zoning District being the West 80 feet of the North 45 feet of Lot 15 and the West 80 feet of Lot 16, Block 66, Alexander-Westmoreland Addition and located at 513 West 9th Street. The case was presented to the board by Mr. McDonough. Mr. McDonough explained that the patio would come to within less than 1 foot of the south property line. Mrs. McClure showed the board a picture of what she was wanting to build and explained that the roof would be constructed of wood lattice. Mrs. Warrick made a motion seconded by Mr. George to grant the request. Motion carried unanimously. B.A. Case 1026 Request of Jim and Evelyn Ball to construct a garage addition to a residence in the required rear yard in a R-1 (Single-Family Residential) Zoning District, being the East 67.42 feet of Lot 17, Block 5, Edgemere Addition and located at 2601 W. 19th. Mr. McDonough presented the case to the Board. Using slides, Mr. Sewell indicated where the addition would be located on the property. Mr. Ball gave a copy of the site plan to the board to use as reference. After a short discussion, Mr. Burton made a motion to grant the variance request as submitted. Motion was seconded by Mr. George and passed unanimously. Request of Don Elkins for a variance to again park a mobile home for use as temporary living quarters in a MF-2 (Multi-Family Residential) Zoning District being Lot 6, Block 9, McClelland Addition and located at 310 Fir Street. Mr. McDonough presented the case to the Board and stated that Mr. Elkins was not able to attend due to his work load. Mr. McDonough further stated that Mr. Elkins was a produce inspector and had, for the past several years, received a variance to park a trailer at this location. Mr. McDonough stated that Mr. Elkins generally stays approximately thirty (30) days during the local picking season. After a short discussion, Mr. Burton made a motion, seconded by Mr. George to grant the variance to end on the 30th day of August. Motion carried unanimously. Having no further business, Mr. Burton made a motion seconded by Mr. George to adjourn.
