MINUTES
The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Jack Burton. Other
members present were John Oathout, Carolyn Warrick, Rebecca Escalante
and Lynn Davis.
Visitors present were Harold Gladman, Mrs. William Akin and Betti
Daniel.
Staff present: Jim Sewell, Building Inspector.
B.A. CASE NO. 1058
Request of Betti Daniel for a variance for the placement of a
utility/storage building in the side and rear yards in an R-1
(Single-Family Residential) Zoning District, being the South 53 feet
of Lot 4~ Block 6, Country Club Addition and located at 311 Juanita
Street.
Jim Sewell, Building Inspector presented the case to the Board. This
case had tabled at the August 22, 1988, meeting for further study.
Mrs. William Akin spoke in opposition of the request.
Board member John Oathout made a motion to approve the variance as
requested because other variances had been granted in the
neighborhood for less clearance. Motion was seconded by Board member
Rebecca Escalante and carried on a 3-0 vote, with Board member
Carolyn Warrick abstaining.
B.A. CASE NO. 1063
Request of Cary L. Eaves for a variance to construct an open carport
in the required front and side yards in a R-2 (Single-Family
Residential) Zoning District being Lot 2, Block 1, Boynton
Subdivision and located at 104 S.E. 6th Street.
Jim Sewell, Building Inspector presented the case to the Board.
Harold Gladman, representing Cary Eaves, stated the carport would be
built of wood. He also stated that Mr. Eaves wanted to put a 2 foot
plastic awning on the west side to protect vehicles in the evenings.

Board member Carolyn Warrick made a motion to grant the request
however, the shade awning should not extend below 2 feet. Motion was
seconded by Board member Oathout and carried unanimously.
Having no further business before the Board, Board member John
Oathout made a motion, seconded by Board member Carolyn Warrick, to
adjourn~ Motion carried unanimously.
