HomeMy WebLinkAbout10.23.1989 BA MinutesBOARD OF ADJUSTMENT MEETING MINUTES Monday, October 23, 1989 7:30 P.M. - City Hall The Board of Adjustment met in regular session with Chairman Jack Burton presiding. Other members present were Carolyn Warrick, Randy Ballinger, Rebecca Escalante Lynn Davis and Pat Stoner. Staff members Mike McDonough, Director of Municipal Services; and Jim Sewell, Building Inspector met with the Board. Visitors present were L. B. Brandes, James Hearn, James Hearn, Jr., Judy Sewell, Vanessa SewelI and Priscilla Sewell. B. A. CASE NO. 1084: Request of L. B. Brandes to construct a storage building/workshop in the required rear yard in a R-1 (Single-Family Residential) Zoning District, being Lot 50, Westr±dge Park Unit ~3 and located at 206 Navasota. The case was presented to the board by Mr. Sewell. Through different audio-visual means, Mr. Seweil indicated the location of the property and its surrounding area as well as the proposed construction site. Mr. Sewe±l stated that the building was to be a 12' x 20' wood frame building constructed on an existing concrete slab to within one (1) foot of the read property line. Mr. Brandes answered questions from the board about the exact location and construction of the building. After a short discussion by the board, Ms. Stoner made a motion to grant Mr. Brandes a variance to construct a 12' x 20' wood frame residential storage/workshop building to within one (1) foot of the rear property line. The motion was seconded by Mr. Ballinger and passed unanimously. B. A. CASE NO. 1085: A request of James Hearn to construct a residential garage in the required rear yard in a R-2 (Single-Family Residential) Zoning District being lots 23 and 24,, Block 7, Hillcrest Addition and located at 301 S.E. Alpine. The case was presented to the board by Mr. Sewell. Through different audio-visual means, Mr. Sewell indicated the location of the. lots, the surrounding area and the purposed building site. Mr. Sewell stated Mr. Hearn planned to build a two car attached garage that would extend 6 foot into the required rear yard. After a short discussion, Ms. Warrick made a motion to grant Mr. Hearn a variance to construct an attached wood frame garage six (6) ,feet into the required rear yard. The motion was seconded by Mr. Ballinger and passed unanimously. Mr McDonough reviewed the duties of the Board of Adjustment as required by the new Zoning Ordinance. He also reviewed changes in the ordinance that had a direct effect on the board. Having no further business, Mr. Ballinger made a motion to adjourn. The motion was seconded by Mr. Davis and carried unanimous ly. Building Inspector Presiding Board Member
