The meeting was called to order by Acting Chairperson Lynn Davis.
Other Board Members present were Carolyn Warrick, Randy
Ballinger, Lee Roy Lightfoot and Betty Gonzalez.
Staff present was Jim Sewell
B. A. CASE NO. 1097:
A request of Juan Jose Gamboa for a variance to park a mobile home
for living quarters in a M-2 (Heavy Industrial) Zoning District
on Lots 8-14, Block 1, Railroad Addition and located at 1200 N.
Date.
The case was presented to the Board by Mr. Sewell. During his
presentation, Mr. Sewell used video tape to indicate the location
of the request and the surrounding area. Mr. Sewell stated that
the request was made due to security reasons and that several
reports of theft and break-ins were on file at the Police
Department.
Mr. Gamboa stated that he has had a continual theft and break-in
problem and made the request in an effort to stop the thefts. He
further stated that he and his family would be living in the
mobile home and he had not planned on renting it.
After a short question and answer period, Ms. Warrick made a
motion that the request be granted with the provision that the
mobile home be occupied by Mr. Gamboa and the request be granted
for a one year period. The motion was seconded by Mr. Lightfoot
and passed unanimously.
B. A. CASE NO. 1098:
The request of Fred Bechtold on behalf of Hobbie Smith to
construct an open metal carport in the required front yard in a
$-1 (Single-Family Residential) Zoning District on the South 80
feet of Lot 9, Block 9, Brock Addition, Unit 2 and located at
1100 Garland.
This request was withdrawn at the request of the applicant.
