Other members attending were Randy Ballinger, Rebecca Escalante, Lee Roy Lightfoot and Betty Gonzalez. Staff member attending was Jim Sewell, Interim Building OfficiaI. B. A. CASE NO. 1105 A request of Marion Gion to construct an addition to a commercial building in the required front yard in a C-3 (Commercial General Business) Zoning District being described as JK-2 Sec. N40, 78' X 140' wide Tr 17, A-4 and a 75' X 140' Tr. P. Stanley and located at 506 West 5th Street. The case was presented to the board by Mr. Sewell. The location of the property and the surrounding area was indicated by overhead projection and a video tape of the property was reviewed. Mr. Gion stated that he wanted to construct an entrance foyer to his business that would extend 2 feet into the required front yard. He described the construction as being wood frame and the outside finish being stucco and of Spanish style. After a short question and answer period with the board, Ms. Escalante made a motion to grant a variance to build 2 feet into the required front yard as requested. The motion was seconded by Mr. Lightfoot and passed unanimously. B. A. CASE NO. 1106 A request of G. E. and Ken Douglass to construct gasoline pump islands and canopies in the required front and side yards in a C-3 (Commercial General Business) Zoning District being described as Lots 7, 8 and the West 20 feet of Lot 9, Block 46, Original Town and located at 500 Columbia. The case was presented to the board by Mr. Bewell. Through the use of the overhead projector and video tape, the board reviewed the property and the immediate area surrounding the property. BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT MEETING NOVEMBER 26, 1990 PAGE 2 Mr. G. E. Douglass described the construction to be a canopy covering two gasoline pump islands. He stated that the canop~ would be 5 feet from the property lines and the pumps islands would be 15 feet from the property lines. He presented one proposed site plans that indicated the canopy being parallel to Columbia Street and one that indicated the canopy and pumps being at a 45 degree angle from the southwest corner of the property. The second proposal was the desired plan. After a lengthy discussion, Mr. G. E. Douglass requested that the variance request be withdrawn until the next meeting. Having no further business before the board, Ms. Gonzalez made a motion to adjourn. The motion was seconded by Mr. Lightfoot and passed unanimously.
