HomeMy WebLinkAbout12.17.1990 BA MinutesBOARD OF ADJUSTMENT HEARING MONDAY, DECEMBER 17, 1990, 7:30 PM COUNCIL CHAMBERS, CITY HALL The meeting was called to order by chairperson Lynn Davis. Other members in attendance were Carolyn Warrick, Randy Ballinger, Lee Roy Lightfoot and Betty Gonzalez. Staff members present was Jim Sewell, Building Official. Visitors present were G.E. Douglas, Ken Douglas and Mr. & Mrs. Paul Lindsey. B.A. CASE NO. 1106: Request of G.E. and Ken Douglass to construct gasoline pump islands and canopies in the required front and side yard in a C-3 (Commercial General Business) Zoning District being described as Lot 7,8 and West 20 feet of Lot 9, Block 46, Original Town and located at 500 Columbia. This case was tabled at the November 26, 1990 meeting. Mr. G.E. Douglass presented a new site plan that showed construction of two pump islands and canopies one being parallel to the south property line and one parallel to the west property line. The site plan indicated that the pump islands were to be placed twenty feet from the property lines and the canopies were to be placed seven feet from the property lines. After some discussion, Mr. Lightfoot made a motion that the variance be approved as indicated on the presented site plan. The motion was seconded by Ms. Warrick and passed unanimously. B.A. CASE NO 1107: A request of Mary Ann Lindsey to construct a storage building in the required side and rear yard in a R-1 (Single-Family Residential) Zoning District on Lot 8 except the south 5 feet and north 1 foot, Block 25, Brock Addition Unit 10 and located at 1407 Jefferson. Mr. SewelI presented the case and stated the applicant was requesting to place a residential storage building on an existing concrete slab. He further stated the existing concrete slab was placed at 5 1\2 feet from the side and rear property lines. The slab was placed there prior to present Zoning Ordinance that required a 5 foot side and rear yard. Mr. Paul Lindsey represented Ms. Lindsey. He stated that if BOARD OF ADJUSTML J£ HEARING MONDAY, DECEMBER 17, 1990, 7:30 PM the applicant was,required to meet the present code, she would have to remove and relocate a section of the underground sprinkler system and portions of the present concrete slab would be unusable. After a short discussion, Ms. Warrick made a motion that a variance of 2 1\2 f. oot be granted to the south side and rear property lines. The motion was seconded by Mr. Ballinger and carried unanimously. Having no further business before the board, Mr. Ballinger made a motion to adjourn.
