WHEREAS, Article 1066c, Vernon's Annotated Texas Civil Statutes, as amended, authorizes the governing body of certain cities, towns, and villages in Texas to call an election for the purpose of adopting an additional sales and use tax within such cities, towns, and villages; and WHEREAS, the City of Plainview is authorized under Article 1066c, as amended, to call for said election. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE OF PLAINVIEW: CITY Section 1. That a special election shall be held in and throughout the City of Plainview, Texas on the second Saturday of August, 1987, that being the eighth day of the month, at which election there shall be submitted to the resident qualified voters of said City, for their action thereupon, the following propositions. "FOR adoption of an additional one-half of one percent (1/2%) local sales and use tax within the city to be used to reduce the property tax." "AGAINST adoption of an additional one-half of one percent (1/2%) local sales and use tax within the city to be used to reduce the property tax." Section 2. Velon Townsen Consuelo Soliz and Antonio Landeros are hereby appointed as the election officials of Precinct 1. Consuelo Soliz shall act as the presiding judge of Precinct No. 1. Antonio Landeros is hereby appointed first alternate judge to act as presiding judge of Precinct No. 1 in the event that Consuelo Soliz is for any reason unable to serve as such presiding judge. J.J. Williamson and Mrs. Mavis Witliamson are hereby appointed as the election officials of Precinct 2. J.J. Williamson shall act as the presiding judge of Precinct No. 2. Mrs. Mavis Williamson is hereby appointed first alternate judge to act as p~esiding judge of Precinct No. 2 in the event the J.J. Williamson is for any reason unable to serve as such presiding judge. Betty Hurt and Bernadine Nobles are hereby appointed as the election officials of Precinct 3. Betty Hurt shall act as the presiding judge of Precinct No. 3. Bernadine Nobles is hereby appointed first alternate judge to act as presiding judge of Precinct No. 3 in the event the Betty Hurt is for any reason unable to serve as such presiding judge. Mrs. L.A. Royal and Mrs. Anita Maldonado are hereby appointed as the election officials of Precinct 4. Mrs. L.A. Royal shall act as the presiding judge of Precinct No. 4. Mrs. Anita Maldonado is hereby appointed first alternate judge to act as presiding judge of Precinct No. 4 in the event that Mrs. L.A. Royal is for any reason unable to serve as such presiding judge. Karen Sandlin and Linda Hall are hereby appointed as the election officials of Precinct 5. Karen Sandlin shall act as the presiding judge of Precinct No. 5. Linda Hall is hereby appointed first alternate judge to act as presiding judge of Precinct No. 5 in the event the Karen Sandlin is for any reason unable to serve as such presiding judge. Mary Sherman and Nova Sherman are hereby appointed as the election officials of Precinct 6. Mary Sherman shall act as the presiding judge of Precinct No. 6. Nova Sherman is hereby appointed first alternate judge to act as presiding judge of Precinct No. 6 in the event the Mary Sherman is for any reason unable to serve as such presiding judge. Velon Townsen and Mrs. Lillian Townsen are hereby appointed as the election officials of Precinct 7. Velon Townsen shall act as the presiding judge of Precinct No. 7.
