SOUTHWEST 3RD STREET - PROHIBTING PARKING, STOPPING OR STANDING
ORDINANCE NO. 88-2753
AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING THE PARKING, STOPPING
OR STANDING OF ANY MOTOR VEHICLE ON A PORTION
OF SOUTHWEST 3RD STREET PLAINVIEW, TEXAS, PROVIDING
A PENALTY AND PROVIDING FOR THE PASSAGE OF SUCH
ORDINANCE AS AN E~RRGENCY.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Plainview, Texas has
determined that it would be in the best interest of the public that
parking, stopping or standing of motor vehicles of any kind be
prohibited on the following portion of Southwest 3rd Street, City
of Plainview, Texas, to wit:
From the East right-of-way line of Highway 1-27 to the West
right-of-way line of South Columbia Street.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City
of Plainview, Texas:
Section 1: Parking, stopping or standing of any kind of motor
vehicle on the North and South sides of that portion of Southwest
3rd Street from its Intersection with the East right-of-way line of
Interstate 27 to the West right-of-way line of South Columbia
Street is prohibited.
Section 2: Ail ordinances or portions of any ordinance of the
City of Plainview, Texas, in conflict herewith, or hereby amended
to conform with the provisions hereof.
Section 3: Any person who shall violate or fail to comply
with any of the provisions of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty
of a misdemeanor and upon conviction shall be punished under the
provisions as set forth within this Code under Section 1-5.

The necessity to prohibit parking, stopping or standing of
motor vehicles of any kind on that portion of Southwest 3rd Street,
in Plainview, Texas, as herein described, creates an emergency and
it is an imperative public necessity that more than one reading
thereof be, and the same is hereby suspended; this ordinance
shall be passed and taking effect as an emergency measure and shall
be in full force and effect from and after its passage as provided
by law, and it is so ordained.

WHEREAS, the City council of the City of Plainview, Texas did
on May 24, 1988, at a Regular Session of the said City Council pass
and adopt Ordinance No. 88-2753 on first and final reading.
The descriptive caption and penalty of said Ordinance are as
follows:
AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING THE PARKING, STOPPING
OR STANDING OF ANY MOTOR VEHICLE ON A PORTION
OF SOUTHWEST 3RD STREET PLAINVIEW, TEXAS, PROVIDING
A PENALTY AND PROVIDING FOR THE PASSAGE OF SUCH
ORDINANCE AS AN EMERGENCY.
PENALTIES
The penalties for the violation of this Ordinance are as
follows: Section 3: Any person who shall violate or fail to
comply with any of the provisions of this ordinance shall be deemed
guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction shall be punished under
the provisions as set forth within this Code under Section 1-5.
