HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-3373 ord9¸3 Election ORDINANCE NO. 03-3373 An Ordinance of the City of Plainview calling and setting the date for the Special Municipal Election; Designating districts and polling places for Districts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7; Designating the election of a Mayor; Designating Early Voting Ballot Board Judge.; Designating district polling place judges; Setting hourly rate for election officials; And posting Notice of Election. WHEREAS, in accordance with the statutes of the State of Texas and the Charter of the City of Plainview, an election shall be held in and for the City of Plainview; and" WHEREAS, the election shall be held on the first Saturday in May, 2003, the same being the 3rd day of the month; and WHEREAS, all persons qualified to vote in said election under the Election Laws of the State of Texas shall be allowed to vOte therein. THE CITY OF PLAINVIEW HEREBY ORDAINS that all electors shall vote in the voting district in which said voter resides, and at the polling place provided for voting as designated in Section 1 of this ordinance. Section I: The election shall be held in the designated district within the City, at the designated polling place within the district as designated below: CITY DISTRICT NO. 1 Voting Place: Ash Elementary School 908 Ash Street Plainview, Texas CITY DISTRICT NO. 2 Voting Place: Hillcrest Elementary School 315 S.W. Alpine Drive Plainview, Texas CITY DISTRICT NO. 3 Voting Place: Lakeside Elementary School 1800 Joliet Street Plainview, Texas Ordinance No. 03-3372 Election Page 1 of 3 94 CITY DISTRICT NO. 4 Voting Place: College Hill Elementary 707 Canyon Street Plainview, Texas CITY DISTRICT NO. 5 Voting Place: Edgemere Elementary School 2601 West 20th Street Plainview, Texas CITY DISTRICT NO. 6 Voting Place: Senior Citizens Center 1107 Smythe Plainview, Texas CITY DISTRICT NO. 7 Voting Place: Coronado Junior High School 2501 Joliet Street Plainview, Texas Section I1: That said election is to elect a mayor at-large to complete the unexpired term of Mayor Lloyd C. Woods. Section Ill: That said election shall have as its Early Voting Ballot Board presiding election judge Michael Black. That District No. I Polling Place Judge will be Michael Black and Alternate Polling Place Judge will be Don Hill; District 2 Polling Place Judge will be Lee Soucy and Alternate Polling Place Judge will be Sally Cortez; District 3 Polling Place Judge will be Pablo Gonzalez and Alternate Polling Place Judge will be Celia Pacheco. District 4 Polling Place Judge will be Robert Weller and Alternate Polling Place Judge will be Dorothy Miller; District 5 Polling Place Judge will be Jerry Ticer and Alternate Polling Place Judge will be June Ticer; District 6 Polling Place Judge will be Ann Green and Alternate Polling Place Judge will be Mary Bonner; District 7 Polling Place Judge will be Angelia Miller and Alternate Polling Place Judge will be Mary DeLuna. Section IV: It is further provided that the hourly rate for presiding election judges that attend pre-election training sessions shall not exceed $7.00 per hour, and the hourly rate for Clerks that attend pre-election training sessions shall not exceed $7.00 per hour; all other presiding election judges and clerks hourly rate shall not exceed $6.00 per hour. Section V: A copy of this ordinance shall also be served upon the election officials designated to hold the election. Section Vh Provisions of this ordinance are cumulative and nothing herein shall prevent, Ordinance No. 03-3372 Election Page 2 of 3 95 alter, or diminish the applicability or enforcement of other ordinances restricting, regulating or governing the subject matter herein. Section VII: All ordinances or portions of any ordinance of the City of Plainview, Texas in conflict herewith, are hereby amended to conform with the provisions hereof. Section VIII' Should any section, subsection, or any portion hereof be deemed invalid for any reason, such holding shall not render or invalidate any other section, subsection, sentence, provision, clause, phrase, or word severable therefrom and the same shall be deemed severable for this purpose. Section IX: This ordinance shall be of full force and effect upon its passage and publication as required by law. PASSED AND APPROVED on first reading this 20th day of March, 2003.
