ORDINANCE NO. 00'3240
An Ordinance of the City of Plainview callng and setting the date for the Regular
Municipal Election; Designating districts and polling places for Districts 1,2,3,4,5,6,
and 7; Designating the election of a Councilmember for Districts 5, 6, and 7
respectively; Designating the election of a Mayor At-Large; Designating Early Voting
Ballot Board Judge; Designating district polling place judges; Setting hourly rate for
election officials; And posting Notice of Election.
WHEREAS, in accordance with the statutes of the State of Texas and the Charter of the City of
Plainview, an election shall be held in and for the City of Plainview; and
WHEREAS, the election shall be held on the first Saturday in May, 2000, the same being the sixth
day of the month; and
WHEREAS, all persons qualified to vote in said election under the Election Laws of the State of
Texas shall be allowed to vote therein.
THE CITY OF PLAINVIEW HEREBY ORDAINS that all eleCtors shall vote in the voting district
in which said voter resides, and at the polling place provided for voting as designated in Section 1 of
this ordinance.
Section I: The election shall be held in the designated district within the City, at the designated polling
place within the district as designated below:

Voting Place: Ash Elementary School

Section II: That said election is to elect a mayor at-large and city councilmembers for districts 5, 6
and 7.
Section III: That said election shall have as its Early Voting Ballot Board presiding election judge
David Wilder. That District No. 1 Polling Place Judge will be Frankie Canner; District No. 2 Polling
Place Judge will be Paul Drager; District No. 3 Polling Place Judge will be Kristi Hatch; District No.
4 Polling Place Judge will be Sue Douglass; District No. 5 Polling Place Judge will be Jerry Ticer;
District No. 6 Polling Place Judge will be Gene Barton; And District No. 7 Polling Place Judge will
be Waylon Fields.
Section IV: It is further provided that the hourly rate for Presiding Election Judges shall not exceed
$6.00 per hour, and the hourly rate for Clerks shall not exceed $6.00 per hour.
Section V: A copy of this ordinance shall also be served upon the election officials designated to hold
the election.
Section VI: Provisions of this ordinance are cumulative and nothing herein shall prevent, alter, or
diminish the applicability or enforcement of other ordinances restricting, regulating or governing the
subject matter herein.
Section VII: All ordinances or portions of any ordinance of the City of Plainview, Texas in conflict

herewith, are hereby amended to conform with the provisions hereof.
Section VIII: Should any section, subsection, or any portion hereof be deemed invalid for any reason,
such holding shall not render or invalidate any other section, subsection, sentence, provision, clause,
phrase, or word severable therefrom and the same shall be deemed severable for this purpose.
Section IX: This ordinance shall be of full force and effect upon its passage and publication as
required by law.
