HomeMy WebLinkAbout98-3189STREET RENAMING ORDINANCE NO. 98-3189 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PLAINVIEW PROVIDING FOR CHANGING THE NAME OF A PORTION OF WESTRIDGE ROAD TO ANDY TAYLOR ROAD; CUMULATIVENESS CLAUSE; SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; CONFLICTS CLAUSE; AND EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Plainview, Texas, recognized that Andy Taylor was dedicated to the advancement of the community; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Plainview, Texas, recognized a need to commemorate the work and life of Andy Taylor by naming a thoroughfare Andy Taylor Road; and WHEREAS, Andy Taylor served as a member of the City Council of the City of Plainview, he was involved in grain trucking, the cattle business and farming; and WHEREAS, his personality and memory have indelibly made that portion of Westridge Road his own, and the City Council of the City of Plainview has determined it would be in the best interest of the public that a portion of Westridge Road be renamed Andy Taylor Road, said portion to be renamed as follows, to wit: All of that portion of Westridge Road between U.S. Highway 70 and State Highway 194, inside the city limits of Plainview, Hale County, Texas. NOW, THEREFORE the City of Plainview hereby ordains: Section L That Westridge Road between U.S. Highway 70 and State Highway 194, inside the city limits is hereby changed from Westridge Road to Andy Taylor Road. Section IL Provisions of this ordinance are cumulative and nothing herein shall prevent, alter or diminish the applicability or enforcement of other ordinances restricting, regulating or governing the subject matter herein. Section HI. If any section, subsection, sentence, clause, phrase, or portion of this ordinance is for any reason held invalid or unconstitutional by any court of competent jurisdiction, such portion shall be deemed a separate, distinct and independent provision and such holding shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions hereof. All ordinances or portions of any ordinance of the City of Plainview, Texas, in conflict herewith, are hereby amended to conform with the provisions hereof. Section V. This ordinance shall be of full force upon and effect upon October 13, 1998. PASSED AND APPROVED this 13th day of October, 1998.
