HomeMy WebLinkAbout89-2805WATER RAT$ ADJUSTI~IT ORDINANCE NO ., 89-2.805 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLAINVIEW, AMENDING SECTION 24-44, ENTITLED "WATER RATES, BILLINGS" OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PLAINVIEW, TEXAS, AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Plainview, Texas provides water to its citizens; and WHEREAS, the City Council is charged with-the responsibility of establishing water rates in order to insure that the services provided. are maintained at an acceptable level; and WHEREAS, the City of Plainview has not. adjusted water rates since September, 1984; and WHEREAS, the City. of Plainview is interested in initiating a program to promote water conservation and moving away from a water -rate structure which encourages consumption. ,_ , ~,,_; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLAINVIEW, TEXAS, that Section 24-44 entitled "Water Rates, Billings" of the Code of the City of Plainview, Texas is hereby amended and shall henceforth read as follows: Section 24-44. Water Rates, Billings. The City. shall charge and collect, and every consumer of water shall pay for the water furnished by the City to the consumer the amounts calculated by application of the rates to metered readings as provided in this chapter. A. The following are established as the monthly rates to be charged for water furnished by the City of Plainview far all consumers, unless otherwise noted: The City shall make a minimum monthly charge of eight dollars and twenty five cents ($8.25), to each consumer using City water. For this minimum charge the-City shall furnish totithe consumer up to three thousand (3,000) gallons of water per month. For water used over and above the three thousand (3,000) gallons per month by the consumer the City shall charge the following: for the next seven thousand (7,000) gallons, above the f-first three thousand (3,.000) gallons, the City shall charge one dollar ($1.00) per each one thousand (1,000) gallons; for all water used .above the first ten thousand (l0,OQ0) gallons, the City shall charge eighty cents ($.80) per one thousand (1,000) gallons. 1 of Z B. All rates-and charges far utility services shall be billed on one bill. Payment of the amount due on such bill shall be in full for .the total amount billed. Partial payments mill not be accepted without prior approval from the Director of Finance.. Sffectiue Date.. This Ordinance shall. be effective with the billing on the 10th day. of November, 1989.
