HomeMy WebLinkAbout98-3159PARKS ADVISORY BOARD - Amendment Ordinance No. 98-3159 An ordinance amending Section 18-101, entitled Board Created; Membership, Parks Advisory Board, of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Plainview, Texas; Severability clause; Cumulativeness clause; Conflicts clause; And effective date. WHEREAS, on March 25, 1995, the Plainview City Council, through the adoption of Ordinance No, 95,3035, created the Parks Advisory Board; and WHEREAS, the Parks Advisory Board is performing an important service for the City of Plainview in making recommendations on Parks and Recreation issues; and WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Mayor and City Council the Parks Advisory Board continue to make its significant contributions to the betterment of our community. THE CITY OF PLAINVIEW HEREBY ORDAINS that Section 18-101 of the Code of Ordinances is hereby amended and henceforth shall read as follows: SECTION I Section 18-101 BOARD CREATED; Membership The Parks Advisory Board shall consist of eight (8) residents of the City of Plainview appointed by the Mayor and City Council. The Mayor and each Councilmember shall nominate one (1) individual The nominees must be confirmed by the City Council. The Board shall select a Chair and other officers as deemed appropriate. The eight (8) appointed members shall be voting members of the Parks Advisory Board. The Parks Superintendent shall serve as secretary. SECTION II Provisions of this ordinance are cumulative and nothing herein shall prevent, alter, or diminish the applicability or enforcement of other ordinances restricting, regulating or governing the subject matter herein. C:\MyFiles\ORDINANCES\98-3159.ord.wpd Page 1 of 2 SECTION III All ordinances or portions of any ordinance of the City of Plainview, Texas in conflict herewith, are hereby amended to conform with the provisions hereof. SECTION IV Should any section, subsection, or any portion hereof be deemed invalid for any reason, such holding shall not render or invalidate any other section, subsection, sentence, provision, clause, phrase, or word severable therefrom and the same shall be deemed severable for this purpose. SECTION V This ordinance shall be of full force and effect upon its passage and publication as required by law. PASSED AND APPROVED this the 10th day of March, 1998.
