CIVIL SERVICE - CLASSIFICATION - EQUIPMENT OPERATOR
ORDINANCE NO. 03-3382
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PLAINVIEW, TEXAS PROVIDING
FOR THE AMENDMENT OF ORDINANCE NO. 99-3234 TO ELIMINATE
THREE POSITIONS IN THE EQUIPMENT OPERATOR
CLASSIFICATION; SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; CUMULATIVENESS
CLAUSE; CONFLICTS CLAUSE; PUBLICATION CLAUSE; AND
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, on May 5, 1990, the City of Plainview held a referendum to
determine whether state civil service should be adopted for the City of Plainview Fire
Department, and the results of the referendum were to adopt state civil service law for
the Plainview Fire Department effective November 1, 1990; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Ordinance No. 90-2841, a classification system for the
City of Plainview Fire Department was established and later amended by Ordinance No.
91-2855; and Ordinance No. 93-2965; and
WHEREAS,jn an e. ff.ort to effect an economy in operations and a betterment in
municipal services, the City Council finds it to be in the best interests of the City to
further amend the classification of fire personnel by eliminating three positions in the
equipment operator classification;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of
Plainview that:
Section I.
The City of Plainview, in the interest of economy and efficiency, hereby eliminates three
positions in the equipment operator's classification.
Section II.
The classification of all firefighters subject to state civil service law and the number of
authorized positions in each classification are hereby provided as follows:

Section III.
Should any section, subsection, or any portion hereof be deemed invalid for any
reason, such holding shall not render or invalidate any other section, sub-section,
sentence, provision, clause, phrase, or word severable therefrom and the same
shall be deemed severable for this purpose.
Section IV.
Provisions of this ordinance are cumulative and nothing herein shall prevent,
alter, or diminish the applicability or enforcement of other ordinances restricting,
regulating or governing the subject matter herein.
Section V.
All ordinances or portions of any ordinance of the City of Plainview, Texas in
conflict herewith, are hereby amended to conform with the provisions hereof.
Section VI.
This ordinance shall be of full force and effect upon its passage.
