HomeMy WebLinkAbout03.24.2003 BA MinutesBOARD OF ADJUSTMENTS MINUTES 3-24-03 BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Ray Jameson, John Bickel, Richard Herrera, Fred Willis, Max Browning STAFF MEMBERS PRESENT: John Castro, Director of Community Services, Katy Seals, Community Development Secretary OTHER GUESTS PRESENT: Virginia Cedillo First item on the agenda: Approval of February 2003 minutes. Fred Willis made motion to approve the minutes. Max Browning seconded the motion. Motion carried 4-0. Second item on the agenda: Swearing in of new members - none to be sworn in. Third item on the agenda: The request of Geronimo Granado for a variance of six (6) feet of the required Twenty five (25) foot front setback as stated in Section 34 of the City of Plalnview Zoning Ordinance to construct an 18'X20' carport in a Single-family Residential (R-2) Zoning District, and being N5' OF Lot 5 All of Lot 6, James Addition, Plainview, Hale County, Texas the same being 1809 Galveston Street. Virginia Cedillo, who lives at 1809 Galveston Street was present. She speaks no English, so John Castro will translate for her. John Castro showed the Board pictures of the property and a site plan of the proposed location of the carport on the property. There was one response from the neighborhood received - it was in favor of the request. Max Browning asked what materials would be used in the construction of the carport. John Castro translated it would be a prefabricated carport. He said staff has no problem with the requested variance. Max Browning said the carport would not make the property look crowded. Fred Willis made a motion to grant the variance based on the positive response from the neighborhood and this being the best logical placement of the carport. Richard Herrera seconded the motion. Motion carried 5-0. SECP TA
