First item on the agenda: Sweating in of new members: Bobby Bmnson sworn in.
Second item on the agenda: Approval of April 2003 minutes. Richard Herrera made motion to
approve minutes as read. Kenny Brown seconded. Motion carried 4-0.
Third item on the agenda: The request of James Kennon for a variance of thirteen (13) feet of the
required twenty-five (25) foot front setback and as stated in Section 34 of the City of Plainview Zoning
Ordinance to construct a 24'X24' carport in a Single-family Residential (R-2) Zoning District, and being
Lots 14-15, Block 11, West Hillcrest Addition, Plainview, Hale County, Texas the same being 210 West
Crestway Street. James Kennon is present. John Castro showed the Board a map of the neighborhood
and a site plan of the proposed carport. The carport will be constructed of red iron "C" channel, 4" pipe
and have a sheet iron roof. There were three (3) favorable responses received from the surrounding
property owners and one (1) received opposing the request. Richard Herrera made motion to approve
the request for a variance based' on this being the only logical~ place for the carport and mostly positive
responses from the neighborhood. Bobby Brunson seconded. Motion carded 4-0.
Fourth item on the agenda: The request of Brad Smith for a variance of twenty-two (22) feet of the
required thirty (30) foot from setback and as stated in Section 34 of the City of Plainview Zoning
Ord'manee to construct a 20'X20' carport in a Single-family Residential (R- 1) Zoning District, and be'rog
Lots 18, Block 1, Aylesworth Addition, Plainview, Hale County, Texas the same being 1312 Utica
Street. Brad Smith is present. John Castro showed the Board a site plan of the proposed~ carport and a
map showing where the property is located. The carport will be of all metal construction material.
There were four (4) responses received from the neighborhood, all in favor of the request. Kenny
Brown made motion to approve the variance based on this being the only logical placement for the
carport and the positive responses received from surrounding property owmers. Bobby Bnmson
seconded. Motion carded 4-0.
