HomeMy WebLinkAbout03 0918 min214 The City Council met on September 18, 2003 at the Plainview Convention Center, 2902 West 4th Street, Plainview, Texas. The agenda for this meeting was posted in City Hall at 11:00 a.m. on September 15, 2003. Mayor John C. Anderson presided. Councilmembers present were: Kelvin Tipton-District 1, Mary Jane Shanes-District 2, Belinda Pena-District 3, John N. Bertsch-District 4, Ross Owen-District 5, Buddy McGehee~District 6 and Irene Favila-District 7. Staff members present were: Wally Hatch-Interim City Manager/City Attorney, John Castro-Director of Community Services, Dale Simpson-Director of Civil Service, Gary Glass-Fire Chief, Brice Clements-Assistant Director of Public Works/Engineer, Elizabeth Regner-Assistant City Manager, Jason Thompson-Main Street Coordinator, Will Mull- Police Chief, John Berry-Director of Public Works and Belinda Hinojosa-City Secretary. Guests Present: Ron Trusler and Jim Blagg News Media F~epresentative: Richard Orr-Plainview Daily Herald Ron Trusler delivered the Invocation. The Council and staff reviewed the agenda for the City Council meeting of September 23, 2003. Councilmember Owen moved the Council go into closed session to deliberate the appointment, employment, evaluation, reassignment, duties, removal, discipline or dismissal of a public officer or employee, board, commission, or committee member, or to hear complaints or charges. [Tex. Gov't. Code Section 551.074]. Review List of City Manager Applicants. The motion was duly seconded by Councilmember Shanes and carried by unanimous Vote. Mayor Anderson recessed the meeting into closed session at 12:15 p.m. The Council reconvened in open session at 1:20 p.m. Councilmember Owen moved the Council interview Greg Ingham, Ed Thatcher and Debi Lee fOr the City Manager position. The motion was duly seconded by Councilmember Tipton and carried unanimously.
