HomeMy WebLinkAbout04 0318 minThe City Council met on March 18, 2004 at the Plainview Convention Center,'2902 West 4th Street, Plainview, Texas. The agenda for this meeting was posted in City Hall at 11:27 a.m. on March 15, 2004. Mayor John C. Anderson presided. Councilmembers present were: Mary Jane Shanes-District 2, Belinda Pena-District 3, John N. Bertsch- District 4, Ross Owen-District 5, Buddy McGehee-District 6 and Irene Favila-District 7. Councilmember Kelvin Tipton was absent. Staff members present were: Greg Ingham-City Manager,' Will Mull-Police Chief, Gary Glass-Fire Chief; Dale Simpson-Director of Civil Service, Larry Gould-Code Enforcement Officer, Rusty Reese-Parks Superintendent, Brice Clements-Engineer and Belinda Hinojosa-City Secretary. News Media Representative: Richard Orr-Plainview Daily Herald Guests present: were: Jim Ferrell, Brian Thomas and Kevin Carter Councilmember McGehee delivered the Invocation. Councilmember Kelvin Tipton was granted an excused absence. The Council and staff reviewed the agenda for the City Council meeting of March 23, 2004. Mayor Anderson left the meeting and Mayor Pro-Tem MarY Jane Shanes presided over the remainder of the meeting. Brian Thomas, Convention and Visitors Bureau Director presented the CVB Quarterly Report. He showed the Council the new brochures, postcards, letterhead and envelopes. He stated he had received favorable comments on the new brochures. He advised that Piainview is a sponsor for the new Windmill Trail. The CVB Board will be meeting with Lamar Industries regarding a billboard with a LED message board.
