HomeMy WebLinkAbout10.20.2014 BA Minutes BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT MINUTES 10/20/2014 BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Mark Hardin, Kevin Carter and Joe Frank Rodriguez. STAFF MEMBERS PRESENT: Robert Zapata, City Inspector and Judy Rasher, Community Service Secretary. GUESTS PRESENT: Mr. & Mrs. Munoz of 1305 Navajo Trail, Plainview, TX. Mark Hardin called the meeting to order at 5:57 P. M. FIRST ITEM ON THE AGENDA: Oath of office - NA SECOND ITEM ON THE AGENDA: Approval of September 29, 2014 minutes. Kevin Carter made a motion to approve minutes as presented. Joe Frank Rodriguez seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. THIRD ITEM ON THE AGENDA: BA Case # 1639: Consider the request of a special exception of the minimum front set back authorizing the construction of a Carport under the City of Plainview Zoning Ordinance Section 37.2.2(H) Special Exceptions. Property Owner : Amanda Beltran Address: 1415 W 26th Legal Description: Block 5 Lot 19 Unit 5 of the Thunderbird Addition Zoning: R2 Robert Zapata presented the case before the board. Homeowner wanted to build a 24 x 24 carport. Homeowner was not present at the meeting. A real estate assessment of the area was performed in April, 2014 by a local real estate agent and it was determined that the construction of a carport at 1415 W 26th will not have a negative effect on other nearby properties in the neighborhood. Joe Frank Rodriguez made a motion to approve the variance based on the request. Kevin Carter seconded and the motion carried unanimously. FOURTH ITEM ON THE AGENDA: BA Case #1640: Consider the request of a special exception of the minimum front set back authorizing the construction of a Carport under the City of Plainview Zoning Ordinance Section 37.2.2(H) Special Exceptions. Board of Adjustment October 20, 2014 Minutes Page 1 of 2 Property Owner: Isaac Munoz Address: 1305 Navajo Trail Legal Description: Block 18 Lot 11 Unit 4 of the Thunderbird Addition Zoning: R2 Robert Zapata presented the case before the board. Mr. & Mrs. Munoz were present. Homeowners wanted to build an 18 x 19 carport. The City of Plainview received four letters from the neighbors in favor of the carport. A real estate assessment of the area was performed in April, 2014 by a local real estate agent and it was determined that the construction of a carport at 1305 Navajo Trail will not have a negative effect on other nearby properties in the neighborhood. Kevin Carter made a motion to approve the variance based on the request. Joe Rodriguez seconded and the motion carried unanimously. Adjournment — Meeting adjourned at 6:04 P.M.
