PARK ADVISORY COMMISSION
BOARD MEETING MINUTES
The City of Plainview Park Advisory Board as appointed by City Ordinance Number 95-3035
dated as approved March 28, 1995, held an open meeting at 4:00 P.M., Thursday, October 08,
1998 in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 901 Broadway Street, Plainview, Texas. Minutes for
this meeting are hereby submitted as follows.
ITEM
1. Call to order by Chairperson Mrs. Davis at 4:40 P.M.
2. Invocation given by Ruby Riggins.
3. Members present were: Mrs. Davis, Mrs. Riggins, Ms. Recio, and Mrs. Luna.
4. Members absent were: Mr. Gary Miller, Mrs. Kiser, Mrs. Walker, and Board Vacancy.
5. Guests present were: Mrs. Kristi Durham
6. City Staff present were: Mr. Rusty Reese, Park Superintendent.
7. September's meeting minutes were given by Mrs.Davis and approved as read.
8. Old Business -
a. Mrs. Kristi Durham addressed the commission on the need of development of a
new park in the Westgate area. Mrs. Durham stated that if the City would sponsor some of the
funds, she felt that the Westgate addition would, or could, fund some of the monies required
through donations.
9. New Business -
a. Commission decided not to have a December meeting.
b. Julie Recio took oath of office.
c. Jim Jeffers, City Manager, addressed the commission members on the importance
of their role as members. He thanked all the members for their contributions to the City. He stated
that they were a voice to the council. He also stated that they were needed to prioritize the
different wants and needs and then recommend to the council. Afterwards, it is up to the council
to decide what they could afford, taking in consideration of all projects; Fire, Police,
Water/Sewer, Parks, Streets, etc. Mr. Jeffers answered that there is a possibility that monies could
be set aside, dedicated to Park improvements each year, if the council was asked.
10. Next meeting set for November 05, 1998.
11. Meeting adjourned at 5:45 P.M.
