PARK ADVISORY COMMISSION
BOARD MEETING MINUTES
The City of Plainview Park Advisory Board as appointed by City Ordinance Number 95-3035
dated as approved March 28, 1995, held an open meeting at 4:00 P.M., Thursday, May 14, 1998
in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 901 Broadway Street, Plainview, Texas. Minutes for this
meeting are hereby submitted as follows.
ITEM
1. Call to order by Chairperson Ms. Davis at 4:10 P.M.
2. Invocation given by Ms. Riggins.
3. Members present were: Ms. Davis, Ms. Riggins, Ms. Kiser, and Ms. Walker. Members
absent were Ms. Leyendecker, Mr. Miller, Ms. Luna and Vacancy by Mr. Mock. Guests
present were Ms. Essie Givens and Ms. Cynthia Hearn. Staff present was Rusty Reese,
Parks Superintendent.
4. Minutes for the April meeting were given by Ms. Davis after correction of Mr. Mock
being in attendance. Minutes were approved as read.
5. Old Business -
a. Results of ballots for chairperson were announced. Motion to accept wasmade by
Ms. Kiser and 2"d by Ms. Riggins. Chairperson to serve 1 year term.
b. Ms. Davis reported that Mr. Bobby Robbins, Youth Minister of First Baptist
Church and youth group would paint the barrels at 7th St. park and board
requested them to submit ideas for designs.
6. New Business -
a. Rusty gave report on information that was received from Lubbock and Amarillo on
Mass Gatherings and Commission requested to invite personnel from EMS and
Police Departments for next meeting to gather further information on possible
requirements.
b. Ms. Cynthia Hearn addressed the Board on an item that she would like to see in all
the city parks, upgrade on playground equipment , paint and increase the quantity.
c. Commission received a letter of resignation from Rev. Jim Mock.
7. Ms. Linda Walker took Oath of Office.
8. Next meeting set for June 11, 1998.
9. Meeting adjourned at 5:05 P.M.
