BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Mark Hardin, Kevin Carter, Joe Frank Rodriguez. Member
not present — David Murphree.
STAFF MEMBERS PRESENT: Robert Zapata, City Inspector, Judy Rasher, Community
Service Secretary.
GUESTS PRESENT: Lou E Balenton of 2202 Kokomo, Dolores Munoz and Felix Rocha of
1409 Galveston.
Mark Hardin called the meeting to order at 6:00 P. M.
FIRST ITEM ON THE AGENDA: Oath of office - NA.
SECOND ITEM ON THE AGENDA: Approval of April 13, 2015 minutes. Kevin Carter
made a motion to approve minutes as presented. Joe Frank Rodriguez seconded the motion.
Motion carried unanimously.
THIRD ITEM ON THE AGENDA:
BA Case # 1644: Consider the request of a special exception of the minimum front set back
authorizing the construction of a Carport under the City of Plainview Zoning Ordinance Section
37.2.2(H) Special Exceptions.
Property Owner : Jose Araujo
Address: 1310 Navajo Trail
Legal Description: Block 17 Lot 16 Unit 4 of the Thunderbird Addition
Zoning: R2
Robert Zapata presented the case before the board. A real estate assessment of the area was
performed by a local real estate agent. A carport will enhance the value of the property. There
are many carports on this street. It was determined that the construction of a carport at 1310
Navajo Trail will not have a negative effect on other nearby properties in the neighborhood.
Joe Frank Rodriguez made a motion to approve the variance based on the request. Kevin Carter
seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
FOURTH ITEM ON THE AGENDA:
BA Case # 1645: Consider the request of a special exception of the minimum front set back
authorizing the construction of a Carport under the City of Plainview Zoning Ordinance Section
37.2.2(H) Special Exceptions.

Robert Zapata presented the case before the board. A real estate assessment of the area was
performed by a local real estate agent. There are many houses in the area that have carports. It
was determined that the construction of a carport at 1409 Galveston will not have a negative
effect on other nearby properties in the neighborhood.
Joe Frank Rodriguez made a motion to approve the variance based on the request. Kevin Carter
seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

BA Case # 1646: Consider the request of a special exception of the minimum front set back
authorizing the construction of a Carport under the City of Plainview Zoning Ordinance Section

Legal Description: Block 1 Lot 12 of the Northside Addition
Zoning: R2
Robert Zapata presented the case before the board. A real estate assessment of the area was
performed by a local real estate agent. There are many carports in the area. It was determined
that the construction of a carport at 2202 Kokomo will not have a negative effect on other nearby
properties in the neighborhood.
Joe Frank Rodriguez made a motion to approve the variance based on the request. Kevin Carter
seconded and the motion carried unanimously
