HomeMy WebLinkAbout02-03-2000 Parks Advisory Board MinutesCITY OF • PARK ADVISORY COMMISSION BOARD MEETING MINUTES Office of Support Services The City of Plainview Park Advisory Board, as appointed by City Ordinance Number 95-3035, dated, as approved March 28, 1995, held an open meeting at 4:30 P.M., Thursday, February 3, 2000, in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 901 Broadway Street, Plainview, Texas. Minutes for this meeting are hereby submitted as follows: ITEM 1. Called to order by Chairperson Mrs. Davis, at 4:37 P.M. 2. Invocation given by Linda Walker. 3. Members present were: Mrs. Davis, Mrs. Luna, Mrs. McDonald, and Mrs. Walker. 4. Members absent were: Mrs. Riggins, Mrs. Kiser and two vacancies. 5. Guest present were: No Guest. 6. City Staff present were: Mr. Rusty Reese, Park Superintendent. 7. November minutes were given by Mrs. Davis and approved as read. 8. Old Business a. Mr. Reese updated members on park activities. Irrigation system all but complete. b. P.I.S.D. girls softball playing on city softball fields. c. Tree nursery reported to be doing very well. d. Advised members of new tree planting at Financial building and south parking area. 9. New Business a. Activity for Arbor Day. Motion was made by Mrs. Walker and second by Mrs. Davis to purchase and plant a Treaty Oak tree, which is a seedling from the Austin Treaty Oak, in the city's tree nursery for Arbor Day Celebration. Motion passed by unanimous vote. b. 7th Street Park play structure. After discussing and reviewing the play structures, a motion was made by Mrs. Davis to table this topic until the next meeting, thus allowing further investigation and studying opportunities. Motion second by Mrs. McDonald. Motion passed by unanimous vote. Catalogues were to be delivered to absent members for their review. 10. Next meeting set for March 9, 2000. 11. Meeting adjourned at 5:25 P.M.
