BOARD MEETING MINUTES
The City of Plainview Park Advisory Board as appointed by City Ordinance Number 95-3035
dated as approved March 28, 1995, held an open meeting at 4:30 P.M., Thursday, July 06, 2000,
in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 901 Broadway Street, Plainview, Texas. Minutes for this
meeting are hereby submitted as follows.
ITEM
1. Call to order by Chairperson Mrs. Davis at 4:45 P.M.
2. No invocation given.
3. Members present were: Mrs. Davis, Mrs. Kiser, Mrs. Wall, and Ms. Riggins.
4. Members absent were: Mrs. Walker, Mrs. Luna and Mrs. McDonald.
5. No guests were present.
6. City Staff present were: Mr. Rusty Reese, Park Superintendent.
7. May's meeting minutes were given by Mrs. Davis and approved as read.
8. Old Business -
a. Members were given information, 4/= = o• -t0" : H.L. Stewart's wood/tree sculpture,
that a sculpture, like the squirrel at the court house, costs $500.00 and that he
could make drawings in trees. Mr. Stewart is willing to negotiate prices depending
on what and how many sculpturess`being requested. Motion was made by Mrs.
Davis and second by Mrs. Wall, to table this item of business, for further
investigation. Tableby unanimous vote.
9. New Business -
a. 7th Street play structures. Bid tabulation sheet was presented and explained to
members. Upon review of tabulation sheet, motion was made by Mrs. Kiser and
second by Mrs. Riggins to recommend the bid that meet all specifications. Motion
passed by unanimous vote.
b. Public access to Travis Trussell pond. Discussion about reopening the area
included the possibility of uncontrolled fishing, cruelty to the ducks and geese and
the disturbance of nesting birds. Also, putting picnic tables in the duck area would
probably have some health concerns, with bird droppings all around the tables, and
is not a good idea. Motion was made by Mrs. Wall and second by Mrs. Kiser, to
leave the Trussell pond as is. Motion passed by unanimous vote.
10. Next meeting is scheduled for October, 2000.
11. Meeting adjourned at 5:20 P.M.
