Board of Health Meeting
October 23, 1973
The regular monthly meeting of the Plainview -Hale County Board of Health
was called to order by Chairman Ray D. Blair at 7:30 p.mc in the Health Depart-
ment offices at 1001 Ash. Attending were Ray Blair, Oliver Hamel, Sam Langford,
Dr. C. L. Busby, Dr. D. J. Truitt, Dr. Gerald Wagner and Mary Lou Truesdale.
The minutes of the previous meeting were approved as read.
A motion was made by Mr. Langford to pay the bills. Seconded by
Dr. Busby. Motion carried. -
Mr. Blair reported that since Judge Heck had discussed with Mrs. Truesdale
the reasons for the South Plains Health Provider Organization receiving county
funds and his desires as to the Health Department's role in utilization of
these funds that Dr. Wagner and he felt it was not necessary for them to visit
with Judge Heck at this time. Mrs. Truesdale stated that Judge Heck had
explained that this seemed to be a solution in providing county indigents
with sick medical care. He recognized the need for some patients to see
their usual physician and requeSted that the Health Department staff continue
to make referrals for medical care through his office.
Dr. Wagner discussed the relationship of the Health Department to South
Plains Health Provider Organization, stating that the situation at times was
difficult due to overlapping services. Mr. Oates has still failed to comply
with Dr. Wagner's request for a problem -solving conference. A contract with
the Speck's has been discussed but is not yet finalized.
Mrs. Truesdale reported on the need for additional R.N. staffing to fill
the existing vacancy. A new clerk, Norms Molina, began work this month. A
new N.Y.C. student began training on September 24th.
No further business appearing, the meeting was adjourned at 8:20 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
re.) Mary Lou Truesdale
