first session with the Board of Health.
The motion was made by Bud Law, seconded by Dr. Morgan, that the
bills for July be paid. Motion carried.
Dr. Board reported that things are continuing on as previously
reported, and that no unusual activity is going on. He did add that
he would be absent from his Lubbock office between the dates of Sept-

the interim.
Mrs. Truesdale reported that, other
along with the shortage of personnel due

than being unusually busy,
to vacations, one resignation,
on in a routine manner.
Dr. Board announced a celebration "The International Year of the
Child", to take place on November 30, at the Civic Center. This is
being held on this date in order to coincide with the Third Annual
Perinatal Seminar, December 1. The Department of Health, Education,
and Welfare, Region 6, has selected the "kick-off" of the Improved
Child Health Program in Health Systems Agency 2, to be the reason for

At this time, plans are being made to have a large, formal, "Perinatal
Health Fair", and ribbon -cutting ceremony. The Board members were
cordially invited to attend.
Dr. Baldwin called the Board's attention to the nursing services
report page of the Board of Health Report, emphasizing the total num-
ber of services rendered for the month, which was 1,419; which, when
compared with past reports, shows a marked increase in services being
given by the local Health Department.
A discussion then ensued concerning problems which had arisen
in Abernathy Independent School District, regarding limitation by
school officials on the services which can be offered through the
school nurse there. Further discussion followed on ways that this
problem might be resolved, as well as a brief explanation of the
situation by Dr. Baldwin, wo that Judge Hollers might be informed on
some of the background.
