HomeMy WebLinkAbout10-19-2000 Parks Advisory Board MinutesPARK ADVISORY COMMISSION BOARD MEETING MINUTES The City of Plainview Park Advisory Board as appointed by City Ordinance Number 95-3035 dated as approved March 28, 1995, held an open meeting at 4:30 P.M., Thursday, October 19, 2000, in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 901 Broadway Street, Plainview, Texas. Minutes for this meeting are hereby submitted as follows. ITEM 1. Call to order by Chairperson Mrs. Davis at 4:30 P.M. 2. Invocation given by Mrs. Wall. 3. Members present were: Mrs. Davis, Mrs. Kiser, Mrs. Wall, and Mrs. Luna, and Mrs. McDonald. 4. Members absent were: Mrs. Walker and Mrs. Riggins. 5. No guests were present. 6. City Staff present were: Mr. Rusty Reese, Park Superintendent. 7. July's meeting minutes were given by Mrs. Davis after making changes to 8A; 1.)Changed surrounding to regarding, 2.) Is to are, 3.) Table to tabled, and 4.) Meeting date from October 12 to October 19. Minutes were approved as read. 8. Old Business - a. Tabled tree sculptures. Motion was made by Mrs. Kiser and second by Mrs. Wall to accept and approve of sculptures to be created in the City parks whenever trees were available and the monies for sculptures could be raised. Motion passed by unanimous vote. 9. New Business - a. Commission was made aware of the interest by the Running Water Draw Trail coalition and that Texas Tech College of Architecture and the City of Plainview had entered into a service contract to design and create a computer model of a trail that included a skateboard park, Frisbee golf course, a Par course, restrooms, outdoor sculpture garden, graffiti park, and a scenic overlook. Texas Tech is to assist in obtaining a grant for improvement to trail. b. Mrs. Davis, Mrs. Luna, Mrs. McDonald, and Mrs. Wall toured the new 7th Street play ground c. Commission was updated on park issues. Millennium Square is expected to be completed in next three weeks and dedication is scheduled for December. d. FM 3466 - construction is expected to begin on October 23, 2000, and completed in middle of March 2001. The parks department is to receive twenty-nine (29) trees from TxDot for replacement of lost trees. 10. Next meeting is scheduled for January 11, 2001. 11. Meeting adjourned at 5:30 P.M.
