The Plainview -Hale County Board of Health met in regular session on
May 28, 1981 at K -Bob's. Those in attendance were: Dr. Larry R. Karrh,
Dr.'C.M. Baldwin, Mr. Bud Law, Mayor Bob Wayland, Mr. John Hatchel, Mr.
Oliver Harmel, Dr. Anthony Lyons, Mrs. Mary Lou Truesdale, Mrs. Maria
Rodriguez, Dr. Richard Morgan, Mr. James Belk, Dr. Hugh H. Wilson, Jr.,
and Guest, Shirley Tyler.
The meeting was called to order by the chairman, Dr. Karrh.
The motion was made by Mr. Law that the minutes be approved, as circulated.
The motion was seconded by Dr. Baldwin. Motion carried.
The nest order of business concerned all bills. The motion was made by
Dr. Baldwin that these bills be paid. The motion was seconded by Mr. Law.
Motion carried.
Mrs. Truesdale reported that there is still a vacant nursing position.
She also stated that the Family Planning serviceshave increased with 429
active patients as of April. Discussion was held on ICHP grant.
Mrs. Truesdale said that Mrs. Jarzynka is doing well in her training
program. She will attend some Pediatric Physical Assessment Classes in July.
Mrs. Jarzynka will be going to the physical assessment classes for 2 days
per week, for 2 weeks.
Mrs. Truesdale commented that Dr. Lyons was a great help in the Health
Department. She also said that high school parents had raised some questions
about Venereal Disease Education. She also said that venereal disease is
increasing each year and that they needed to continue to offer that education.
Libby Howard, the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade school nurse has reviewed some
film for V.D.' for the students, for use in the .schools in the fall.
Dr. Lyons commented that he was getting familiar with the Department
and becoming more comfortable. He does not see anything that needs -to be
changed for now:
Mr. Harmel, chairman of the budget committee, presented the proposed
budget for 1980 and 1981. The motion was made by Dr. Wilson that the
budget be accepted. Seconded by Dr. Morgan. Discussion followed. Motion
carried unanimously.
There was some discussion about South Plains. Health Provider's
possible operation changes and how these changes might effect our operations.
Motion wasmade by Dr. Wilson that the meeting be adjourned. Seconded
by Dr. Baldwin. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned.
