HomeMy WebLinkAbout04-29-1982 Board of Health MinutesBOARD OF HEALTH MINUTES APRIL 29, 1982 The Plainview -Hale County Board of Health met in regular session on April 29, 1982. Those present were: Mr. Oliver Harmel, Mrs.. Mary Lou Truesdale, Dr. Hugh H. Wilson, Jr., Mr. James Belk, Dr. Larry Karrh, Dr. C.M. Baldwin Dr. C.L. Busby, Mrs Susan Dobbind, R.N., Mayor Riddlehuber, Mr. Tom Aday Mrs Iva Jean West, Mrs Rachel Castillo, and media representative Mr. Buddy Baker. Dr. Karrh called the meeting to order and asked for approval of the minutes. Mrs Dobbins moved that they be approved as circulated, Mrs West seconded and motion carried. The minutes were brought up for approval. Dr Wilson moved that the bills be paid. Dr. Baldwin seconded and motion carried. Dr. Karrh appointed a budget committee to consist of Dr. Wilson as chairman Mrs. West and Dr. Baldwin. They were asked to please report by May. The Mayor was welcomed to the Board meeting by Dr. Karrh. Dr. Karrh then called for excused absences. Dr. Baldwin moved that Lanny Voss be excused, Mrs Dobbins seconded and motion carried. All others were unexcused. Amendment and/or adjustment of the Fee Scheduled was then brought up_for discussion.The question was raised about a provision for those that could not not pay. After some discussion Dr. Wilson moved that all persons receiving Family Planning services reembursd by Title XX be expected to pay according to the fee schedule, persons not having the money with which to pay will be allowed to charge for services received. There will be no billing or exclusions from services because of repeated charges. Seconded by Sue Dobbins. motion carried. Dr. Karrh reminded the Board that they had recommended in August,1981; to all City Councils within Hale County that Food Establishments permits in their jurisdiction sent annual fee rates of $25.00 and seasonal rates (for purely short term; operation) at $15.00 season. This recomendation is not reflected in the present fee schedule. Since there had not been any provisions made for seasonal food establishments Dr. Vision moved that the permit fee be $25.00 yearly and $15.00 for seasonal. Mrs. West seconded and motion carried. Discussion on Food Handlers workshop was next. Dr. Wilson moved that attendence at a workshop for Food Handlers or a Swimming Pool Operator school be mandatory, with a permit fee of $15.00/$5.00, and that these schools be alternated every year. Dr. Busby seconded, motion carried. Dr. Karrh asked that the discussion on Medical Insurance Liability be put on next months agenda due to the absence of John Hatchell. Board Of Health Minutes page 2 4-29,82 Dr. Lyons reported that things were running smoothly,: the health of the County was good, and that Hepatitis was down. Mrs Truesdale reported that Dr. Cox had attended a Pesicide Workshop on April 30, 1982. It related to Pesticide Poisoning in Humans. The Maternity Clinics are working well. A couple of high risk cases were sent to Lubbock General Hospital for delivery. She reported that no real problems had been encountered. Mrs. Truesdale also commended Buddy Baker on his story about VD. Dr. Wilson moved that the meeting be adjourned, it was seconded and motion carried. Respectfully Submitted Rachel Castillo, Clerk
