BOARD:. OF HEALTH MINUTES
December 2, 1982
Board of Health Meeting at K -Bob's, December 2,
Harmel, Mr. James Belk, Mayor Ridlehuber, Mr.
Dobbins, Mr. Lannie Voss, Dr. Hugh H. Wilson, Jr,
Mary Lou Truesdale, and Mrs. Billie Ehresman.
Co-Chairmar2, Dr. Baldwin called the meeting to order.
Dr. Baldwin asked if there were any corrections or additions to the
minutes. Two mispelled words were corrected. Mr. Harmel asked that
they be approved and Mr. Voss seconded the motion. The minutes were
accepted.
Bills were then brought up for discussion. Dr. Wilson moved that
the bills be paid for the preceding month. Mrs. Dobbins seconded the
-motion. Motion carried.
Bud Law was attending a meeting in Amarillo, Dr. Karrh and Dr. Busby
had a meeting at the hospital, Mrs. West was working, the Judge was out
of his office. Dr. Wilson asked that they be excused. Mrs. Dobbins
seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Discussion of a different meeting place was considered. Mrs. Trues -
dale told of a new steak house that would be opening next week. Mrs.
Dobbins stated that Wayland had a Conference Room with food service by
Saga Foods. The Big Apple was discussed. Dr. Baldwin advised the need
of being careful that everyone knew where and when to meet. K -Bob's
was decided on for the next meeting when more thought had been given
the matter.
Mrs. Truesdale's Narrative was. commented on and she explained that
this was the 20th year that Plainview and Hale County had had combin-
ed health services and that they could be proud of the many things
that had been accomplished.
Block Grants were discussed concerning their funds for the local Health
Department. Mrs. Truesdale stated that questions were being asked rela-
ting to the services that we are now giving. Dr. Eaves had asked about
the 314 D Funds that we lost a year ago when the City took over payment
of a clerk. She said that she was continuing to ask for the support of
a nurse since local officials had picked up support of the clerical po-
sition. Funding for one nursing position has been reduced to part-time.
The funding for a second nursing position and an aide position will be
stopped in September 1983.
Mrs. Truesdale reported that _Dr. aLyons '_was in Austin attending a
meeting of the Local Health Department Directors of the Texas Department
of Health. Thehadinvited him and paid for his trip to Austin. New
laws, and many other item pertaining to his work were to be exchanged.
Mrs. Truesdale said that work was about as usual. She related a con-
versation with Paul Cox from Levies' who was looking for some way to con-
tribute to the City. Educating people about better nutrition was one of
the ways that was discussed. The need of educating the public and specif-
ically the school children and their parents about VD was commented on
and discussed.
Dr. Baldwin commented that all health services were up and care of
Jail patients were discussed.
Dr. Wilson moved that the meeting be adjourned. Mr. Voss seconded it.
The meeting was adjourned.
