Those attending the Board of Health Meeting, April 28, 1983 at
K -Bob's Restaurant were: Dr. Larry Karrh, Ms. Sue Dobbins, Mr.
James Belk, Mr. John Hatchel, Mr. Tom Aday, Mayor Ridlehuber, Mr.
Oliver Harmel, Mrs. I.J. West, Ms. Mary Lou Truesdale, Dr. Carrol
Busby, Dr. C.M. Baldwin, Mr. Buddy Baker from the news media, and
secretary, Mrs. Billie Ehresman.
The minutes were corrected and approved. The bills for March
were approved and there was a motion that they be paid. The motion
carried.
An Executive Meeting was called.
Dr. Karrh presided. He made the announcement that Mr. Bud Law,
a member of the Board of Health, had passed away during the night
and services would be held at Hale Center at 4:00 P.M., April 29th.
Next on the Agenda was the appointment of a Budget Committee.
Dr. Wilson, Mrs. I.J. West, Oliver Harmel were appointed with Mrs.
West as Chairman.
The Health Department's responsibilities concerning complaints
about any resident of a Personal or Public Care Facility was dis-
cussed. Tom Aday stated the Council would probably not reguire
the Health Department to become involed in routine inspections of
Personal Care Homes. Ms. Truesdale stated that the item had been
put on the Agenda simply because the members of the Board had not
discussed it recently. It there are complaints reported to the
Health Department, the Department would then investigate and take
necessary steps to solve the situation or refer it to the proper
agency to resolve the situation.
Dr. Wilson had asked for an excused absence. Motion carried.
Ms. Truesdale said that they had a new clerk at the Health De-
partment. Felicia: Arias resigned effective April 8th and was re-
placed by Elvia Montez, who has previously worked for The Texas
Employment Commission as a Clerk III. Members of the Board were
asked to remember that at one time they were very interested in
acquiring a Clerk III because of the increased knowledge and respon-
sibility she would have. It was stated that Mrs. Montez should be
a definate.asset ..to the. office.
Food Establishments have paid all their fees with the exceptions
of two Manager's License. One of these is in Petersburg and one is
in Hale Center. We are working with these now. Dr. Lyons did make
two exceptions which were Missouri Beef and Butcher Boy because of
the fact that they have either State or Federal Meat Inspectors on
hand at all times.

Chicken pox and strep infections have been prevelant lately. Other
than those,otherdiseases were under control. There are not any lice
at the jail.
Mayor Ridlehuber read a letter of resignation from Sue Dobbins.
Everyone expressed their appreciation for the way that she had ful-
filled her responsibilities as a Member of the Board.
Dr. Balwin moved that the Board of Health be adjourned. Ms. Dobbins
seconded the motion. Motion carried.
