HomeMy WebLinkAbout05-26-1983 Board of Health MinutesBoard of Health Minutes 5-26-83 Those attending the Board of Health Meeting at K -Bob's May 26, 1983 were: Dr. Larry Karrh, Dr. C.M. Baldwin, Ms. Mary Lou Truesdale, Mr. Oliver Harmel, Mr. Lanny Voss, Mayor Gene Ridlehuber, Mr. John Hatchel, Mr. Tom Aday, Dr. Anthony Lyons, Dr. Hugh H. Wilson, Jr. and three guests, Mrs. Wilson, John Qubty and Alex Gurrola. From the newspaper, Buddy Baker, and secretary, Billie Ehresman. The meeting was called to order by the chairman, Dr. Karrh. Dr. Baldwin corrected the spelling of his name in the minutes and Mr. Hatchel had requested that the word "require" in the 5th paragraph be corrected. Mr. Voss made the motion that the minutes be approved and Mr. Harmel seconded the motion. Motion carried. Dr. Baldwin moved that the bills be paid. The motion was seconded by Dr. Wilson. The motion carried. There was one request for an excused absence from Dr. Busby. Dr. Wilson moved that he be excused. Mr. Harmel seconded the motion. Oliver Harmel presented the proposals from the Budget Committee. There was a discussion of the figures that were different from last year. There will be raises in Gas and Electric rates. Rent will be increased to $350/month. A new nurse will start in October at a lower rate than the nurse that is retiring. An increase of $200 was requested to meet planned educational opportunities for more staff members. It was brought to the attention of the Board that The Capital Outlay for equipment was still zero. The Texas Department of Health will be sending the following at no cost to the department: A Glucometer, a three tiered Utility Cart, one four -drawer filing cabinet, a Microscope, a Hymoglobinometer, a desktop Copying Machine, a Centrifuge, and 2 three - panel Screens to be used in Clinics. Liability Insurance was not purchased last year for the Health Board so this was discussed. Mr. Hatchell assured the Board this would be taken care of promptly. Mr. Harmel recommended the Budget to the Governing Committee. Dr. Baldwin seconded the motion. Motion carried. Dr. Lyons reported that the City and County were in reasonably good shape as concerns health related matters. Ms. Truesdale reported that the new clerk was settling in nicely. The Swimming Pool Operator's School was conducted Saturday, May 21st with Bob Badger of Lubbock conducting it. It was attended by 15 reptesentative.s from the city of Plainview. Dr. Karrh called an Executive Meeting. The news media, secretary and guests were excused. At the end of the Executive Session the news media, secretary, and guests were called back. A personnel matter was discussed but no action was taken. Dr. Wilson moved that the Board.of Health Meeting be adjouned. The motion was seconded and the meeting was adjourned.
