AUGUST 30, 1984
Those attending the Board of Health meeting on August 30, 1984, at Golden
Corral Steakhouse were: Dr. Hugh Wilson, Jr., Dr. Anthony Lyons, Dr. Gary
Abercrombie, Dr. Carroll Busby, Lanny Voss, Donna Womble, Lewellen Hooper,
Dorothy Tilson, Weaver McClure, James Belk, Mayor Gene Ridlehuber, Mary Lou
Truesdale, and secretary, Elvia Montez.
The meeting was called to order by Dr. Wilson.
The minutes were corrected and approved.
Dr. Abercrombie moved that the bills for July be paid. Mr. Hooper seconded.
Motion carried.
No request for excused absence was made.
Mrs. Truesdale had prepared a list of board members based on length of service.
Dr. Wilson read the list starting with the Board member serving the longest and the
appointing office. We lack a city appointee to replace Dr. Karrh.
Dr. Wilson appointed a Nominating Committee to elect officers before the Sept-
ember meeting. Mrs. Tilson volunteered, Mrs. Womble and Dr. Abercrombie were
apponted. Dr. Abercrombie will serve as Chairman.
Dr. Lyons reported the City and County were in good shape. Dr. Wilson mentioned
the letter that Dr. Lyons had forwarded to the Physicians on the community on
Western Equine Encephalitis.
Item #3 Mr. Belk stated the County Commissioners had not seen the agreement.
Mrs. Truesdale said it had been taken to the Judge's office along with the report
presented by the By-laws Committee. Mayor Ridlehuber stated that Mr. Hamilton,
City Attorney has the City's copy in his office. No further discussion was made.
An emergency item was approval for the Plainview -Hale County Health District
Contracts with Texas Department of Health. Mrs. Truesdale stated the only change
was the 3% salary increase for state employees. Funds for Nurse I position are
included to allow her the same salary increment as other locally paid employees.
Mrs. Tilson moved that the Board recommend approval of contracts as presented. Mrs.
Womble seconded. Motion carried.
Mrs. Truesdale mentioned a problen. with a -meat producer's employee health cards
not being in compliance with Tuberculin testing requirements. We are working with
the plant mangement to bring this up to compliance.
Also Mrs. Rodriguez has resigned as Clerk -Typist, this: position is to be filled
by -Mid -September.
Dr. Busby Moved to adjourm. Mrs. Tilson seconded the motion. Motion
carried.
